What's a realistic timeframe for when Teague starts?

Year and a half from now? Two years?

I realize it's hard to predict based off a sample size of preseason games, but from what I've seen, he looks great. I actually do believe he could play 15-ish MPG this season, and that he will really contribute. I'd say that a year and a half from now, he'll likely be starting, or at least be playing a good 24 - 30 MPG or so off the bench.

Thoughts?

I say two years. I don't think he will be ready to take the reigns from Bibby at the beginning of next year. I also don't think Woody will give him the starting job midway through a season because he, as well as the rest of the starters, like and trust Bibby at the point.

It is true that he could be ready in a year and a half, but unless we are struggling, I don't think it will happen in the middle of the season. BUT, you never know....

Do you think that conversation would have been different if we were having this about Acie Law before the start of his rookie year?

No. If anything, his time frame should've been shorter.

The good news is that we don't need him to start. The Hawks have solidified the troublesome PG position when they signed Bibby. You can finally forget Chris Paul now Atlanta. I estimate Teague will be ready to handle the load in two years time but likely wont be a full time starter until his third year. It takes some time to develop a report with players and can manage the floor at the NBA level. He has shown great promise this preseason and everyone has taken notice. However one must temper their excitement based on one preseason. Preseason has never a career made.
