Alabi has displayed no offensive game in the few times that I've seen him.

Just looking at the mock drafts...I would be a fan of Elliott Williams and Demacus Cousins. I'd also like to point out that this draft looks MUCH stronger than last year's when it comes to non-pg prospects.

I'm sure he's improved but last year in the ACC tourney he was shut down by Brian Zoubek of Duke. That should be a big red flag on Alabi.

Yeah, but that's just a 1 game sample against a player who's team was better, Alabi is a bruiser who is tough to move in that paint. He has a better shot than Zoubek to make the league, Zoubek IMO won't even garner a 2nd look. He is a poor man's Jeff Foster, sad.

^^^^ I wasn't advocating Zoubek (Heaven's NO!). I was just saying that if Alabi can be dominated by Zoubek then he's not as good as the hype. It wasn't a team thing either. Zoubek neutralized Alabi one-on-one to the point that FSU pulled him and went small instead. If Alabi is going to be a stud at the NBA then I don't think such a lesser big should be able to turn him into a liability for his team. Alabi strikes me as one of those guys that you're still hoping develops by the end of his rookie deal. Maybe showing just enough for another big contract. Desagna Diop, maybe?

i think atlanta is going to go for a small or power forward with this years draft pick. with mo evans and joe smith in a contract year they are going to look for a replacement. my guess' (haven't looked at any mock drafts)

Alabi has a lot of potential. He has legit size, and body. Long arms, pretty athletic and is showing some improving every month. He has a long way to go, but with his size and potential he could be a decent pick if he is available when the hawks pick. He is way better than Solomon Jones, and in a couple of years he could be very solid backup for Horford.

That being said, I wouldn’t choose him. IMO the Hawks should consider signing a player who brings every night effort, and hustle from the bench. I like Jarvis Varnado, Lazar Hayward, Trevor Booker or Jerome Dyson. Different players, but each of them is tough, and productive.

If it’s available I would pick with no brainer Craick Brackins, Gani Lawal or Ed Davis. But this guys are just a dream consideration. Maybe Evan Turner could fall a lot, and he could be still on the table, because of the injury he has.

We will see.

I am not expecting Evans to opt out. That leaves you with Joe, Marvin, Evans, Josh, and Al as forwards. That's plenty.

It's a wing that the Hawks will likely target, since good centers rarely fall to where the Hawks will be drafting.

I'd still like to see the Hawks get a stretch the floor PF. Someone like Dejuan Summers who came out this past year. (or light a fire under Marvin in rebounding so he can take on that role).

I'd also still like to see the Hawks sign John Bryant who has been doing great in the Dleague.

Damion James is an athletic 3/4 type but reminds me a little too much of Joey Graham.

Craig Brackins is a guy who I thought was better than Jordan Hill,Tyler Hansbrough,and Earl Clark last year. Draftexpress currently has him at 23. He was a 5 star recruit in HS and I've come away with the impression that he's basically Lamarcus Aldridge on a crap team. I find it hard to believe that a guy 6'10 w/ that kind of skillset and coordination would last until the 23rd pick.

the main thing i don't like about brackins is that he doesn't hold his own in the paint. i don't see him as a guy that can get rebounds over people. that's what i really wan't in a power forward. if he can show me a dajuan blair type mean streak when going for rebounds i would be alot more confident in him.

with the way evans is playing, i can easily see him opting out at the end of the year. pondexter would be an ideal cheap replacement for him. he scores in bunches and he plays defense. also, Washington U. jsut seems to put out good prospects every year.

Pablo Aguilar might be an option from Europe, but I doubt the Hawks are interested in a face-up 4 when they basically dumped the best one available last year (Andersen) for nothing.

I still say the Hawks need a SG/SF far more than they need a 3/4.

wow...I didn't realize Cousins 15/8 with 2 blocks came in only 19 mpg. So this guy is basically BJ Mullens w/ skill or a 19 year old Eddy Curry.

Looking at the wing prospects who are available....they either can't shoot worth crap or have poor size/athleticism for the NBA.

Manny Harris...20 years old..averages 21 ppg 8 rebounds per game and 5 assists with only 2.5 turnovers. Great athletic numbers....77 free throw attempts in 10 games and 2 steals a game. The problem is that this guy is shooting 28 percent from 3. It's hard to get excited about a guard prospect who can't even shoot 30 percent from the college 3 unless their name is Dwyane Wade.

I've watched a lot of Alabi the past 2 years and he is still a major project. He needs at least another year or two. He reminds me of Thabeet. He could come out now and be a mid first rounder, or stick around another year or two and go top 5.

That being said, I'd love to see him on the Hawks. Big agile guy who has the potential to absolutely dominate defensively once he develops (3 or 4 years from now).
