Just give Joe max?

i would really love to get Bosh, Lebron, or Wade in here, but i know signing Joe is the safe move. it would really make me cringe to offer max to Joe. maybe the Hawks should just go ahead and offer a max extension to Joe right now. finish out the year and let him play half of next season and then the Hawks can decide to keep him or trade him for alittle bit of talent and cap space.

How would we play Bosh? Get rid of Smith or Horford?

What makes you think that Joe would accept that contract right now?

max is max :eek1:

if Joe turns it down, that is pretty every indication that Joe doesn't care about money and has already decided to leave the Hawks high and dry next season, which would help in planning a head.

Right- and no one believes that He would accept that contract from the Hawks right now. He is going to wait until the offseason and see what his options are.

They can offer up to, oh, $40M more.

The most they could offer before this season was four years, as opposed to six years this summer.

Just give Joe max?... No! Joe must go!

After this game, is there any trade scenario that could have us trade Joe to NO for Chris Paul? I do not want to sign him longe term and it clear the we are at are best with lots of ball movement and Joe is just blogging our offense down. This team would be scary with C Paul and our bigs.

Joe's like Woodson now: produce or leave.

We'll wait for the end of the season and see how things worked out.

yeah, Joe for CP or Joe for Bosh

Harry- you don't understand the difference between what Joe can sign for an extension and what he could sign for as a free agent. Joe wouldn't sign an extension right now.

But sure- if you can get chris paul for joe then go for it- of course that isn't possible. If you want Bosh that might be doable but there aren't any more guarantees that he resigns with the Hawks than joe would and Bosh causes a roster construction problem.

OMG!! My dream trade that will never happen:

ATL Trade: Joe Johnson, Othello Hunter, 2 1st RP
ATL Gets: CP3, James Posey

This Roster would be sick:
Chris Paul / Jeff Teague
Mike Bibby / Jamal Crawford / James Posey
Marvin Williams / Maurice Evans
Josh Smith / Joe Smith
Al Horford / Zaza Pachulia / Jason Collins

That would be rediculous!!! I can just imagine the fast breaks and alleys we'd produce with this!

It would have to be something more along the lines of:

CP3/Peja/Mo Pete -for- Crawford/JJ/Bibby

I'm not even sure if we should offer him the same deal we did this past summer. He is NOT woth the max for many reasons we have said around here.

Look - he's going to get a max contract this summer. Only question is whether that comes from us or another team. He's not worth the max (maybe 5 players are in the entire league), but that's what his market value is.

If we sign him, we're married to him for the next half decade for better or worse. We might contend if Josh or Al blossoms into a legitimate star, or if we package one or both of them in a trade for a legitimate star.

If we don't sign him, we're back to relative obscurity again. No one else is coming here that has anywhere close to his talent. And we aren't contending for anything other than a low seed playoff berth and annual first round quick exits.

Thats why we must be bold! we are not getting by the second round! I think we will have a better showing, and than we will ether loss Joe or over pay for him. My thinking is let the other fool over pay for joe and the other top stars next year, I would love for use to maybe package Joe, (marvin or crowford), teages and a first round (future) and get a true PG Like CPaul. A core of al, Josh and Paul and we still have JChill to trade for talent. Also Maybe try to get TMac in here for a mid ( which wouldn;t be hard with this core and CP3 as are point. I also would love to keep Bibby around I think he more than any player haS given this team focus. Just my dream!

Johnson, who stands to become part of the esteemed free agent class of 2010, approached the Hawks about an extension last summer, according to an NBA source, but was told that since his salary cap number is higher than his actual salary, he would be best served to wait until unrestricted free agency and re-sign. Thanks, thats a very interesting read. I was under the inpression that Joe Johnson has turn down a offer
for 4 years 15 mil/per.

With all of these proposed trades to NO for C Paul, you would think that yall didn't turn down the opportunity to draft the kid. Aside from that mistake of passing CP, you might not want to lose Joe. Damn I was so pissed to not see CP-Joe-Josh paired up in ATL.

I'd think he would turn that down- he will certainly get more than that this offseason.
