What should the Hawks do if Joe wont resign...

In my opinion, they should go for this deal:
Caron Butler, Andray Blatche for Marvin Williams, Maurice Evans, Randolph Morris, 1st Rd Pick

By the Way, the Hawks should go for a SG like Larry Hughes or Raja Bell, who´s good at passing, ballhandling and especially defense. Bell should be cheap too...
Look for a SF Free Agent, like Travis Outlaw...

Look at this lineup:

Bibby, Bell, Butler, Smith, Horford (Teague, Crawford, Outlaw, Blatche, Pachulia)

Very, very good team, in my opinion, the whole package is way better than this season lineup...

I would force a sign-and-trade. :) If a quality player like Joe doesn't want to resign, the best thing you can do is to make the best out of it.

Let joe walk instead of spending $80 million on a selfish scorer If he decides to.If That happens I'll give the 29 yr old Crawford (who can score better and easier then joe any way) a Extension for Half the price we were gonna sign Joe for. And will have Big money left to sign another Good Free agent..I like this Idea of keeping Joe anyway.

You will never win a championship if Joe Johnson is your best player. Unless or until Josh and Al become true night in, night out studs we will be 4 and 5 seeds.

Joe would thrive with a PG like Calderon (not sure he believes that, however).

Problem is, we'd either have to play Smoove out of place or trade him, which, from a position of weakness, would be a poor option. Plus, we'd still be playing Horford out of position.

Im kind of thinking the Hawks will just bring Childress back to replace him...

^^ I would rather play Bosh out of position. Bosh is soft of defense and Smoove it elite on D, while Bosh has an elite jump shot, so i would want to keep Josh in the paint and Bosh taking open jump shots.

C: Horford
PF: Smoove
SF: Bosh
SG: Crawford
PG: Bibby

i think Bosh could be just as good as a SF as he is a SF. kind of like a 7 foot, all star version of LaPhonso Ellis or Rodney Rogers

when you think about it, their is nothing that Marvin can do that Bosh can do just as well or better. lateral quickness, ball handling, jump shot, 3p shooting, rebounding, etc. Bosh's D on SF won't be elite but it will definatly be just as good as Marvin's D

Bull. Bosh is an elite player and Marvelous is not, but defensively at SF, Marvelous is head and shoulders better. Bosh would be a disaster at SF, defensively. We'd have to play a zone and pray the other team missed from 3.

If we traded for Bosh, we'd have to play him at PF. He would instantly be our best player -- and you always play your best player at his best position.

First let me say that I think Joe will resign after testing the market; however, this post ask what we should if he doesn't. IMO we should make a push for an elite player of our own. Why not go after D-Wade or Bosh. My preference would be D-Wade since he could slide right into the 2 spot for Joe and have an even greater impact. Now I am not sure what the salary cap ramifications would be, but if it could be worked out I would try it. And if I am D-Wade Atlanta has to look like more of a contender than Miami.

We won't be under the cap enough to offer Wade a max deal. Unless we can dump some contract (like trade zaza and marvin for pure cap), then we won't be able to offer Wade a deal.

I'm not a mod, but we might need to sticky this, especially if it begins to look as if the "unnamed GM" is right.

In addition, I'd love to discuss available monies for 2010-2011.

What teams with capspace would use it on Zaza and Marvin when guys like Amare,Boozer,Lee,and Gay are out there?

What should we do?

Draft a SG that can create his own shot just in case. Carefully spend next year and hope for internal player development to keep us competitive next season while not locking the franchise into a bad financial situation going into the lockout. Hope that the economics of the post lockout NBA work well with the core we have in place and try to use the expiring contracts in that year (Bibby and Zaza) to improve the team.

Also they need to decide on coaching. Woodson is a free agent. The team must decide what to offer him and for how long. No guarantee he'll take it.

This is a great post.

Also, kidnap Melo.
