Could we partner with the Nets:
S&T JJ (5x16) + Teague + 1st rd 10 + 1st rd 11 for Lee + 1st Rd 10 (Wall) + Battie (1y @ 8 mil), Hassell (1y @ 5 mil), Doling (1y left @ 2.5).
Battie could be traded for a low 1st 11 (to recover one lost in trade) due to his cap space. Hassell likewise (2nd rd) and buyout Doling.
Wall - Bibby- FA
JC - Lee - Rio
Marv - Evans?- 2nd
Smith- FA
Al- Zaza- Battie or FA

1. They aren't going to trade the 1st pick for a 28 or 29 year old wing player on a max deal when they are one of the worst teams of all time.
2. Why would Joe want to go the Nets if the Bulls,Clippers,Knicks, and Heat are potentially after him? Newark New Jersey is one of the last cities in the entire country that I'd want to work at if given the choice.

Amen. Id take Evan Turner before Wall. Just my opinion. Cousins deserves some consideration as well.

There is zero chance this trade would happen.

Isn't Battie an expiring?

I think they would be better off receiving a TPE from the team signing JJ then using part of that TPE to sign and trade for Marcus Camby. I think Camby's defensive presence behind Josh Smith plus moving Al Horford to power forward could really cancel out the loss of Johnson. Marvin Williams would be the sixth man too.

Josh Smith is wasted playing SF. His greatest value is interior defense. Putting him at SF ruins our team defense.
He's also developing a pretty good offensive game at PF.

It's been discussed (ad nauseum) that we can't afford a max-contract FA if we lose Joe but what about 2 MID-level contracts? I'm thinking about TJ Ford and some big (Camby?).

If you guys get Wall OR Turner, look out 72-win record. Seriously. I think the Hawks are one less Joe Johnson and one more young star from being a monster team. I don't really see JJ as max talent any more. He seems to be regressing.

We can sign two contracts with the MLE if we want, but the total of the two contract would be the MLE, and I don't see how we can get Ford and Camby for a total of less than $6M.
Meanwhile, I think that, depending on what is available under the tax next year, or even for a little bit more than the tax (maybe some team will want to spend some tax as it could be for one year only, and with a total including tax being not higher than what they spend these last season), ATL should try to keep everybody, and go after someone like Camby or Brad Miller.

^Sorry, my bad. I was typing without looking it up 1st. For some reason, I thought the Bi-annual Exemption (I had forgotten its title) was more like the equal to the Mid-level Exemption. I didn't realize it's only about 1/5th as much.
I was (erroneously) wondering if we could get Camby and Ford for about $5 million each.

The hawks could do Childress plus a MLE player.

Id like to get a guy like Troy Murphy.. One yr left on his contract, can rebound shoot... He'd be a nice 6th man...
Then bring Childress back...
Might be an okay looking team.
