Were Mike and Scal on the C's broadcast really grumpy or something? I watched the ESPN broadcast and it didn't even occur to me to be grumpy haha. The game was never in doubt.

We lost back to back games just over a month ago to the Nets and Knicks in a similar fashion. So apologies if the PTSD is still real for some of us.

White had a very good game but to me Brown was the guy who deserved VC. Yes, his handle was more of a problem with the laceration and he had troubles including a bobble and missed bunny on a back cut ( which he recovered and turned into a 3 pt play)

Very first play of the game he steals the ball and finishes loudly at the rim. Totally set the tone. In the third quarter he was the only guy who showed up. In the fourth when Bogdanovich cut lead to 12, Brown went to work. Most importantly, the guys looked for him and got the ball in his hands.

Tatum was off the charts amazing in first half but he kind of mailed it in in the second half and it was Brown who delivered this time. We are so lucky to have drafted two guys capable of being the best guy on the floor.

Tatum’s lazy second half unacceptable & offset his brilliance in the first half.
#7’s usual & awful 6 TOVs offset his otherwise great play. This has been going on for 6 years! Just stop it.
Without Derrick White, we lose. He was steady as a rock throughout - including our 18 minutes of awfulness where we just gave away 20 points of a 30 point lead for no reason.

Everyone needs to play 48 - do not give the Hawks any hope going back to Atlanta. They will not shoot 17% from 3 again. And we will certainly need all 48 from everyone VS the Sixers & Bucks.

Last year the team brought in White to be a 6th man and he fell short. In off season they bring in a guy who will actually be sixth man of the year. So White forces his way into the best starting 5 in the NBA and becomes the third best player on the team and at times best or second best offensive player. Pretty cool development.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

That nets game was a little different. That was only a 9 point game at halftime. Whereas game 1 vs ATL was a 30 point lead at halftime. Also, we had no Brogdon that game, and Rob wasn't as healthy and as a result, was limited to just 19 mins.

The knicks game was also much different than this one. Our biggest lead that game was only 14 points, halfway through the 3rd quarter. A 14 point lead with that much time left is nothing in today's NBA. Much different than being up by 30 at halftime. The knicks game we were only up by 7 at halftime.

Yesterday, the Hawks never even got the lead to under 12 points. We were up by like 15+ points for basically the whole game.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

The Celtics' halftime lead was cut in half a little over halfway through the second half.

That was a trend that should not -- and thankfully did not -- continue from there.

Every game is different. Of course every game is different. I can literally do this for every game where we've had a sizeable lead at some point. Their penchant to relax when they have a big lead and get too comfortable has bitten them in the ass multiple times in the past is the overall point. Their ability to manage leads better and continuing to play the right way will help them win against tougher opponents. It's fine if you expect less. Every fan is different. Even Joe admitted they can still be better after last game.

Precisely.

Nice win.

VC to White and Brown. They played really well.

Tatum was great in the first half and then took his foot off the pedal.

Rob was good.

Team defense was really good. White, Smart and Al were great on defense.

I look for Brogdon to have a strong game 2.

They weren't overall, a little in the 3rd when the team was sleep walking.

We didn't need Al heroics at the end if we played with more focus
This was a game where Kornet/Blake/Muscala should have gotten 5 or more minutes instead of running Al to the ground

More starters should have rested if we played with more pace

But, a win is a win
For 15 more wins like this

If they'd worked harder, they could have rested more?

I recall a scene in Cool Hand Luke that made just that point. :)

Sure :D

In the first half, Smart, Al and White pushed the pace. Crossed the half court with 20 seconds left on the clock and pressured the Hawks
Second half - crossed the half court with 16 seconds left and played lazy

Run, run, run

Should've voted Smart for CP for his defense on Trae and essentially quarterbacking our defensive coverages. But I loved the preparation and approach by the whole team from tipoff. Main credit goes to the coaching staff. Them letting go of the rope in the 3rd and early 4th is more a player issue.

Good reminder that their pedestrian point guard wasn't too far off our star in terms of numbers.
Hopefully next game White will be able to underline how much better he is.

(A little tongue in cheek, but also...dude balled today, so why not??)

I'm probably wrong, but they did this so regularly in the second half it made me wonder if they just wanted to practice their half court sets.
