Yeah he won't. But is he an upgrade over Smart? Yes. Even a washed version is an upgrade. I honestly believe this organization loves Marcus so much that they wouldn't bench him for anyone.

Can CP3 defend anyone anymore?

Probably not much. He is 39. But what he can do is handle the rock and distribute. At this point in his career he's probably not concerned with being The Guy. Meanwhile here you have Smart Tatum and Brown all wanting the mantle of "The Guy" while only one of those three have the talent to do it.

I dunno, I like that he is a great shooter and passer but relying on an 39yo to start seems desperate to me.

I don't understand the thread title: is CP referred to as 'the Beast'?

also: he's not coming here. We shouldn't sweat it.

I live in Phoenix, he is not the answer, can never stay healthy during playoff time, can't defend anymore.

He’d be ideal if he was willing to come off the bench like Lowry does for Miami. That’s the only way he’d stay healthy. Mind you, we tried that with Brogdon and he still got injured when we needed him the most. That is likely to happen with CP3 too.

It’s all moot though. He’s probably going to the Lakers if he’s waived or not traded. (Also, LOL at the idea of the Lakers having 2 38 year olds in their starting 5.)

I think the one thing that we should keep an eye on is Kevin Durant. He wanted to go to Phoenix to play with Book AND Chris Paul. Would not shock me if he requested another trade. Lol

100% True. I have always been a fan of CP3s game but he is not a winner. JT & JB need to supported by winners, even if they are not as skilled as Chris Paul.

I would take him but zero chance he comes here. It will either be the Lakers or back to the suns.

Don't have high hopes he comes here, but would certainly be interesting...

It's rumored that us, LAL, LAC, and MIL will pursue him.

I think he'd be a good add and free us up to make some other trades. Love the idea of signing him and trading both Smart and Brogdon to address our front court/wing needs.

CP3 / White
Brown
Tatum / ???
???
RWilliams / Horford

Use some combo of:

Smart
Brogdon
Hauser
Pritchard
Grant S&T
expiring filler salaries of Gallinari/Muscala/Kornet/Champagnie
#35
future picks to get a starting level PF and a 3&D backup wing type

CP3 might not be an all-star, but what they need him to do is just handle the ball. He'll be able to dribble and control tempo until he is 50.

He won't be able to score off the dribble anymore and he is always hurt, but as long as CP3 accepts his diminished role, we can take him with diminished skills.

Are we taking insurance on him? He always gets hurt in playoffs. Should learn from Glass Hayward

CP3 to LA or Miami. We all know it's happening.

It’s a bit ironic for us to call CP3 a loser who wouldn’t help and at the same time sing the praises of Al and his leadership helping the team even as his skills diminish. I think there’s a spot on the bench, still in the rotation though for both. Although we do need to move on from Brogdon for it to make sense roster-wise. I’m also not saying give all of Brogdon minutes to CP3, and instead give White more minutes.
