If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
Looks like they'll have to put in Sharpe if they want to get a running mate for Dame..

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
If you could get Scoot and Sharpe.. They might need Simons as a short-term bucket getter, but I'd look into moving Brogdon, Simons, and/or Smart to save money, get frontcourt help and add scorers.
White/Scoot/Smart-temporarily
Simons/Beasley
Tatum/Sharpe
Al/Grant/Vanderbilt
Rob/Muscala/pick 17
I take the short-term hit 10/10 times.

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
I can't imagine Portland offers that, but I think I'm pretty confident that I pull that trigger.
I'm 100% on board the run-it back train given how close we've been two years running and just not had some stuff break our way (in addition obviously to our own shortcomings). That being said I think if you can take the off-ramp from Jaylen's supermax and add some cost-controlled high ceiling talent around Tatum, that's an amazing alternative that can't be ignored under the new CBA.
Sharpe was the #7 pick last year and looked good as a rookie. You're getting the #3 pick in a solid draft and Simons whom I've got on par with Brogdon in terms of value. That's a haul. Two out of three on rookie scale deals, the third is signed for 3 years on an ok contract. It gives you a ton of options.

There have been like 10 Jaylen threads and it's just going to end with him signing the supermax lol

Scoot has an awesome name but as a non-draft expert I like Amen and Miller plenty in comparison.
Would be shocking if POR traded for Jaylen with one year left on his deal, even if trying to appease Lillard that’s still just a huge risk.

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
I 100% make that deal.
Sharpe has potential to be better than Brown, imo, Simons is a potential Markannen like breakout and certainly a tradeable asset.
Simons, #3, Brogdon are all available trade pieces to get front court help...cough Zion cough....

Maybe, seems like Jaylen would fit in Portland like a glove though.

I don't think Portland gets pressured into making a bad deal.. I'm just surprised no one's voted no yet

Its a star driven league. No. They make this deal and the Celtics are rebuilding with Scoot and Smart because Tatum will be gone.
But I really hope Portland gets Bam. Bam OWNS the Celtics.

Right. No one addresses that Brown can't get the SuperMax if he gets traded from Boston. Its not impossible for the Celtics to think they would think they could create a better mix by trading him. But try to implement that. They'd have to tell Jaylen he wasn't worth the SUPERMAX. How does Tatum react even if they plan to pay him the full amount.
So Brown can pull a Bradley Beal a year after the contract is signed but he's staying for at least a year.
Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
Sharpe, 3 and Simons for JB?
Yes, you do it in a heartbeat.
Then, take 1 or 2 of those assets you got from Portland and try to flip for a star (like Zion, Ingram, Trae, Siakam, Towns)
Doesn't sound like Brad has the balls to do it, though. Since that article mentions minnesota, chicago, miami, new orleans and toronto as possible trading partners with Portland, but does not mention boston).
Or, Brad is just being stealth and will swoop in at the last second and make the deal!

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

No, we shouldn't trade Jaylen for assets and then try to shop them further.
If Brad wants to tell Portland he'd take Zion and Sharpe for Jaylen (for example), that's a separate matter. But it's Portland's job to shop the #3.

Nah I'd take that deal and figure it out later.
I think the issue with the idea that you could make that trade and then immediately flip pieces of it for guys like Zion/Ingram/Siakam is that Portland would just do that in the first place and keep whatever pieces Boston would be intending to instead of dealing with us. Jaylen isn't that appealing to PDX compared to those other guys and we're not realistically going to be adding anything to a trade package for one of those guys that Portland can't on their own, so it doesn't really make sense.
I think what you'd be looking to do is to play those guys to inflate their values more and then look at deadline deals where you could pick off a big name from a team looking to shake things up or set up a rebuild. Immediately trade Brogdon for the best pick we can get in this draft and open up his and Brown's minutes to be split amongst the trio we bring in via PDX.
Re-sign Grant and then you've got some solid roleplayers in Simons/Grant on decent contracts that you can add the likes of Sharpe and firsts to in order to try and get another big fish for Tatum that will be cheaper than Brown on his supermax.
Alternatively you can also just let things run their course and see if these guys can actually take leaps to the next level on their own. Simons is solid, Sharpe is showing a ton of promise and you've got Scoot/Miller at #3 both of whom have tons of potential. We did just fine making ECF with Brown/Tatum on their rookie deals and we didn't have any player as good as Tatum at the time (although IT did have that MVP-esque run).
Again for that kind of value, as much as I love Brown, I'm shipping him out and figuring out the rest later. Tatum isn't walking away from supermax money so you've got time to re-set and try to reposition the team.

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
Sharpe , Simons + 3 for Jaylen , pritchard and future 1st
Yes i would do this
Then trade brogdon for front court help, make a run at chris paul when he gets bought out
Smart / Scoot
Simons / white
Tatum / Sharpe
Naz Reid / Gallo
Rob williams / Al Horford
Thats alot of depth and talent. You hope scoot and sharpr develope into a perenial all-star though so thats the risk
You need 1 of or two of scoot , sharpe, simons to becomr all stars soon
But even if fringe thats a very deep talented group
Need more front court help though

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
I’d do that deal. Gives this team options if JT decides to bolt. Signing Jaylen to the supermax is the worst. I’ve got this vibe, JT bolts when his contract is up, and we end up with Jaylen as our untradeable main guy for 6 years haha. It’s not all about the money for some.

Re: If Portland ups their Jaylen offer..
we have some delusional posters. Blazers would have to be the dumbest franchise in the NBA to trade either Sharpe or the #3 pick let alone both for Jaylen. Maybe Simons but we wouldn't be interested. There'd need to be a big coming back from a third team that wanted Simon. I can't think of anyone that fits that description. You people seriously need to lower your expectations in regards to return packages in a Jaylen trade. He only has a year left and unless teams know they can extend him they won't give up much.
