Question for all Celtics fans...

Post#1 » by OnlyTheTruth » Fri Feb 2, 2024 9:44 pm

Whats up ya'll...long time Cs fan here...been reading the boards forever....love reading all the different opinions..for whatever reason this season gave me a bigger itch to sign up and have discussions about Celtics and NBA in general. Favorite Celtics player as my username shows is Paul Pierce the mfkinnn Truthh!!! I am 38 yrs old so watching Pierce and Antoine start their careers in Green is when I actually became a die hard Cs fan...now to my question about this years Celtics and moving on to the future....

If they dont win a championship this season, of you were the GM what would you do next ? They have all the talent in the world to win it all, but mental toughness is not there....and hasn't been there in a while....and the blame has to start with their leader Jayson Tatum...lacks the mental toughness and skill to get them over the hump so far.....Pierce also didnt and couldnt win until he got paired with KG who "got them over thr hump"...

If the Celtics dont win a championship in next 3-5 years would you consider moving Tatum ?

There are so many questions I have but I guess my main question is what would you do in the next 3-5 year window frame if they fail to win Banner 18?

Cheers

Tear it all down and tank for Cooper Flagg.

You roll with this core until we don’t have the best record in the league.

Pierce in game 7s: 5-5 record, 18.6pts, 6rbs, 2.6asts, 2.6tovs on 40.8/33.3/90 shooting
Tatum in game 7s: 5-2 record, 26.7pts, 9.3rbs, 5.1asts, 2.8tovs on 47.4/47.9/80.8 shooting

If only Tatum was as clutch as Pierce.

It's a good question. Truth is, you're not getting better than this group. I have a lot of doubts but this is the best we got for the foreseeable future so let it ride

Absolutely not moving tatum. Firing Joe, yes. If they don't win this year I definitely think we need to move to a proven coach

Regardless of what happens this season, we need Tatum to become a better facilitator.
His passing has improved tremendously but he's still got the hero ball mentality especially when things get tight.
The best players in the league can hit the game winning shot, the true all round superstars make game winning passes and plays...Especially the Euro guys.
Doncic, Jokic, Giannis. They make the opponent worry about their passing. Tatum doesn't do that yet- but with all these great team mates, he seems to be trusting the bigger picture more. His vision needs to be utilized instead of putting the blinkers on in the 4th.

Doncic: 9.4 assists a game
Jokic: 9 assists a game
Giannis:6.4 assists a game
Tatum 4.5 assists- which hasn't really changed in 3 seasons.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Fair post. By almost any measure Tatum is a more complete player than Pierce.

This team is built to have multiple threats down the stretch, not just one or two options.

The key for us is whether we can figure out how to not lose all momentum in the third quarter. Other than that, we are just as much of a threat as any team in the comp over a 7 game series.

Do you wanna know of we'd trade Tatum next season, in the outside chance we don't get a ring, or if we'd trade Tatum in 3-5 years in the outside chance we don't win a ring, or we don't win another one after this season?
