Wyc Grousback Appreciation Thread

Was a long and painful road (and at times infuriating and heartbreaking) since 2008 and 2024, but Wyc I feel has always been an A grade owner who has had the best/most sincere ambitions at heart to bring more championship glory to Bean Town.

I know many neutral supporters on the general board question why the main owner should be the first to lift the Larry O'Brien, but Wyc definitely deserves it imo.

https://www.sportingnews.com/au/nba/news/who-owns-celtics-wyc-grousbeck-boston/c9ad83aaa1af99ba001fd9aa

He just strikes me as a really likable guy too, a owner who is passionate about the franchise and thr city of Boston, MA.

Very confident there is more rings to come under Wyc and his partners ownership.

His faith and trust in Hoops Savant Brad Stevens finishing what Danny Ainge started may have seemed like a very risky decision at the time but fortune favours the brave.

Thank you so much Wyc.

Really putting his money where his mouth is. When they said Brad had the green light in spending to build a championship roster, they weren't kidding. 5th highest tax bill and 5th highest payroll last season IINM. Handed out to JB highest contract in NBA history (upon signing). Extended Porzingis and Holiday. Pretty sure the max extensions of White and Tatum are ready to be signed as soon as the celebration dies down. Apart from the non-roster-related moves they made behind the scenes.

Thank you Wyc and co. Enjoy your 2nd title! Keep paying for more lol.

The way he managed the Ime crisis, handled the keys over to Brad without minding the luxury tax*.
Nothing short of spectacular.

* 5th highest at 43.8M. Genius Brad strikes again.
Bucks: 53M
Suns: 68M
Clips: 142M SMH
Warriors: whooping 176M.
Jrue, White, JB, JT, KP. Brad’s Masterpiece.

They've just trailed the Bucks every year.

Great owner and has made a huge play in the success but the team has gone from iirc $360M purchase price to $4.7B (more really) so they are getting their cake and eating it too (corporate loss is a tax write off for other corporate gains so losing money while 10x-ing value is pretty good).

Job of the front office (and really any good CEO) is to find strong leaders and let them do their work.

For over 20 years we have had top tier basketball operations executives and coaching staffs so have to give a lot of credit to Wyc and company. Also played a role in making Boston a destination for the top FAs for the few years we have had cap space (Al, Hayward, Kemba - heck we almost even got KD to come join IT lol).

Agree with all of this, and I think the other guys with also-hard-to-spell names own a lot of the team as well, and so thanks to Pags and uhm.. the other ones as well!

(and Wyc please just don't use the broadcast to promote the TV show based on your life again:)

I couldn’t do more than one episode of it. I’m assuming it’s since been cancelled.

didn't watch

Rich Gotham was part of the parade today -- I should've included him with Wyc and Pags.
Someone on NBC 10 parade coverage today called Wyc "Grossman" which of course made me think of Image which -- maybe -- Wyc could kind of pull off?

I'm not saying that until White gets his very well-deserved extension.

Whatever happened to the girl who rode the unicycle and balanced bowls on her head? They should extend her too.

That's quite the bowl job.

Met Wyc one time at a Whole Foods in Wayland MA, he was super down to earth; bagged his own groceries and put away his cart! Had a nice, albeit brief conversation with him. This was back around 2008 after the team had just won its championship.

Grateful we have owners who are such big fans of the team!
