If we are getting a vet I want it to be Robert Covington, always thought he’d be a great fit for the Cs. But we don’t really need him and I expect them to leave the roster spot open for the forseeable future

The last thing Brad wants to do is to give Joe bench vets to play instead of developing their younger players.

Leave it open for a training camp surprise.

You reach out to good-great vets to see if someone wants to take the minimum to chase a ring.
Guys like
Demar
Burks
Hield
Bey
Trent Jr
Hayward
Walker 4
Kennard
Lowry
Someone is going to want a chance to win a chip again on a 1 year deal to try and get more money next offseason.

Leave it open so we have something to speculate about.
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

Leave it open.
I’d be open to letting Oshae have it back if he was up for the same exact role. He was such a good soldier and brought so much positive energy, you could do a lot worse for a 15th guy on the roster. Even just as a regular season minutes eater, he’d have value as a hustle wing/PF. Still though he’s not likely to contribute in the playoffs, he could be a blocker in terms of developing the likes of Baylor and Walsh, might be best just to move on entirely.
I'd be really cautious about bringing in a vet who wasn't 100% sold on a towel waiving role with upside. The vibes were so immaculate with this team last year, the ability keep that going shouldn't be understated. That’s one thing that you know Oshae isn’t likely to mess up, especially if he’s scoured the market for opportunities at more guaranteed minutes and struck out. If we were to snag a guy like Saric or Hayward or Burks, you’d want to be absolutely certain they’re along for the ride and anything beyond spot regular season minutes is a bonus for them. And in that context it’s hard to imagine finding a guy good enough to make an impact if called upon, but still open to that kind of role. And there’s always the risk that they think they’re ok with that and ultimately find out that’s not the case.
Leaving it open saves us money, keeps open the possibility of converting a two-way gamble that pays off (a la Queta) and could still always be filled with a vet ring chaser if push came to shove (although unfortunately buy-out options are far more limited for us under the new CBA).
With all 3 of Tillman, Kornet and Queta back, we really don’t need to fill it. Get 3 two-way guys with upside that can compete to get their deal converted and call it a day. Peterson, Watson and JD is a solid trio in that regard (we definitely need PG emergency depth, Watson is worth a flyer and they’re clearly interested a bit in Peterson or they wouldn’t have made him restricted).
This could end up being a very boring summer….

Oshae left us, we didn't drop him.

I think we're locked with this roster. Otherwise, I'd have to do this all over again.

Covington or Hayward would be iNCREDIBLE
RoCO 3&d plus rebounding is a VeRY rich man's Oshae Brissett and Hayward's playmaking and shot making would destroy 2nd units !
