I think there are two separate decision points. One is Saturday…sign Walker or someone else to the 15th spot, or leave it open. The 2nd decision point is at the trade deadline if you need to trade a player to save money. This could be Springer and it would make some sense if he is not producing…. But it could be Walker or even Hauser or maybe no trade and keep 15. The two decisions are not really connected in my mind.

No decision has been made as of yet - I could be wrong, though.

From my understanding, they have until Saturday at 5pm to waive Walker. And sometimes there's guys who get waived by the deadline but it doesn't get reported by the media until a day or 2 later.

Well that’s technically true but don’t you think if they were going to waive him they would’ve done it with the rest of them? Seems like that would have been the play to me. But we will see.

Possibly. You might be right. The fact that they didn't waive him yet, I think that does mean that his chances of making the team are higher.

I don't think we know for sure yet though..perhaps the team is still making a decision..

If it were me I’d keep both. Celtics made their move before the new CBA really took hold and got KP and Jrue. Now their ways of adding talent to the roster have been reduced drastically. No TPE’s, no buyouts, severe limitations on trades. Letting a guy like Walker go that clearly has a refined NBA skill would be foolhardy, and so would salary dumping a guy like Springer who they just gave up a high second for. Pay the bill, and carry 15 men

Unless they trade Springer for big man depth, "someone like" Charles Bassey from the Spurs (i.e. cheap big man depth). This way you shore up the big man depth and sign Walker for the same price as Springer. I'm sure Brad Stevens has it under control.

Brad has earned leeway to decide basketball moves without any criticism the same way Ainge did a few years after 2008. Given the fact that Walker will not automatically cost the team 11 million in taxes, why wouldn’t you keep him? Also keeps him away from the Knicks. I know he’s been connected to the Lakers but I don’t think anyone really views them as any kind of threat.

Enaruna, Harper, Scrubb, Skapintsev & Ward.

They can only Sign 4 as Affiliates. Any others would have to get on the Maine Team, another way.
If they Waive Walker, that would make 6.

They also had Jordan Schakel on exhibit 10, then got waived.

That's right, too. So, with Schakel, that's 6 Players eligible to be Affiliates.
We may see all of them on the Maine Squad, at some point in the Season.

I believe that only 4 at a time can be Affiliates.

I thought they already did this back in September.

Yeah. I think that this is a reporting error on somebody's part.
Also, AFAIK, they have to be on the NBA Team for at least 24 hrs, before being Waived?

We did sign him 'cause we wouldn't be able to waive him if we didn't. But this was over a month ago. So we signed-waived him again?

Would be funny if Schakel made the 15th spot. Or Smitty with errant reporting here. We already signed and waived Schakel in September. 20 minutes to go!

Weird that they announced Schakel's waiving and not Walker's.
