Re: Joe Mazzulla Thread, Head Coach
Anybody catch Joe on Zolak and Beetle when he was talking about something along the lines how everybody should be allowed to have 5 fights a year and not get in trouble? The guy is hysterical.

What does the vertical axis mean? Are most teams in negative territory because they do better in transition than otherwise?
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Per the NBA rulebook
The ball becomes dead and/or remains dead when the following occurs:
- Official blows his/her whistle
- Free throw which will not remain in play (free throw which will be followed by another free throw, technical, flagrant, )
- Following a successful field goal or free throw that will remain in play, until player possession out-of-bounds. Contact which is NOT considered unsportsmanlike or unnecessary shall be ignored. (Rule 12A—Section V—i)
- Time expires for the end of any period
EXCEPTION: If a field goal attempt is in flight, the ball becomes dead when the goal is made, missed or touched by an offensive player.
And yes the fact you rarely get transition opportunities off a dead ball is the reason those possessions typically generate fewer points than a random possession.

Per stats.inpredictable.com, here are the league average PPP for different possession scenarios:
After Made Shot: 1.09 PPP
After Defensive Rebound: 1.12 PPP
After Live Turnover: 1.28 PPP
(Dunno where their ATO falls under.)
