He can't shoot to save his life, I believe he's a lifetime .250 3-point shooter.
Offensively, he may be one of the 10 worst players in the NBA. He has no ability to set up his own offense, initiate offense or score on anything but turnovers and steals.
Defensively, he's great and I won't deny that but he's strictly a very limited, one side of the ball player.
I'd rather they trade Holiday along with multiple Firsts and bring back some type of impact starter or bench guy, even if they have to give out a lot of unprotected First Round picks.
But, if they're too scared to do that and they lack the verve, then by all means, trade Springer along with multiple Firsts and bring back something that can help the team more this season and next.

I don't think he is a contributing enough member to not trade if it makes sense, but this guy can play. His shooting will get better and his scoring will get better. He's good. No idea why we don't want that talent. He's just so raw still.

Shooting can be improved. He's 35.3 on this season. Low volume, but his whole career has been low volume and he's still just 22. What can't be taught is the defensive intensity he plays with.
We won it for Al!!!

Hoping this thread ends like the PP one did with lots of crow for myself included. Or better yet it ends like the JB one last season and the guy who used to be the source of endless fan trades wins Finals MVP.

Celtics have enough offensive talent they can put a zero out there for 10 mpg and be fine. He doesn’t need to play every game. Play him enough so that he’s ready and not a deer in head lights when we need him.

That's the most likely scenario if the Cs end up not trading Spring.

This seems pretty misguided.
-He's young..only 22 years old. Guys that young, there's typically a progression..they get better as they get older. We're seeing that progression with Springer. This season he's up to 35.3% from 3 and if we expand the sample size to include 24-25 preseason and 2025 summer league he's at 41% from 3.
-He also shot 43.5% from 3 in college..which is even more impressive since he was only 18 yrs old in college, so it's not like that's 43.5% from 3 by some older 22/23 year old college player who had all those extra years to develop and improve as a shooter
-FT% is often a good indicator for future 3 pt shooting projection. So like, if a guy has low 3 FG% but high FT%, those are often the guys who eventually improve their 3 FG%. Springer is 78.9% FT for his NBA career and was 81% FT in college
-He also played PG in college where he had a respectable 23.3 assist % which indicates the ability to initiate offense and create shots for others. He's also had some impressive playmaking flashes this season, when his assist % this season is better than Scheierman, better than Hauser, Peterson, Walsh, Davison, Queta and Tillman.
-Springer's FTr is highest on the Celtics this season and is one of the highest in the NBA. FTr indicates an ability to take contact, initiate contact, draw fouls so you can get the opposing team (and possibly their better players) in foul trouble, get some easy points at the FT line. Players with FTr indicates the player can attach the rim, rather than settling as much for perimeter jumpers.
