Re: Welcome to Boston, Torrey Craig!
Question now becomes… will he be a part of regular rotation and take Kornet’s place or does Joe stick with his double big heavy approach?
It’s understandable he got PT with Holiday and Brown out but what if everyone is healthy? Who’s the 9th man?

Yeah that’s a good question.
It seems Joe really likes Kornet ( can you blame him?)
I’d guess Corner Torrey get some decent PT in the last third of the season here as guys get some rest, but if all are healthy he is probably after Kornet in the rotation…and maybe that depends who they are facing as well.

In the playoffs, I won’t be surprised if Craig takes some of PP’s minutes if opposing teams attack PP on defense. Holiday, White, and Tatum can take on ballhandling duties and Cs can go bigger if need be.

My money is on Craig getting some of the minutes of Luke and Sam.

Craig is interesting. In his first game he showed some strong defense and got a steal, was in the right place to hit the corner threes, and had a couple crisp passes. He seems to already have a basic understanding of the role and fits a need.
With his skills he can probably fill in for Kornet if the team goes small, for JB/JT at ties when they are resting or games are decided, and also gives a different defensive look as an option for Hauser or Pritchard without sacrificing too much shooting.
It's early to tell, but generally he looks like just about as good as a utility player as we could hope for from a buyout. Good replacement for Brissett, better offensively, very strong, only slightly smaller on defense.

If JT and JB feel comfortable with him, I think that Joe will play him a bunch.
IMO, Sam's minutes will only increase if he keeps showing he's getting healthy.

I actually wish Joe Mazzulla would incorporate Torrey Craig more into the lineup. I think Craig could be a real asset in the playoffs for spot minutes.

Torrey Craig stats moment, brought to you by Geico:
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/craigto01.html
With Boston so far:
14gp, 10mpg, shooting 42/36/63
Block % of 5.9 is abnormally high, right?
very low TO %; good ORB % for a wing
has played about 60% of minutes at SF, and 20% at SG and 20% at PF
net negative on the court by advanced metrics, but has a decent PER and WS/48
So: I must confess, I still believe he's a good enough Oshae replacement to be possibly useful for emergency/spot duty in the playoffs

Re: Welcome to Boston, Torrey Craig!
Craig is still a solid piece to have on the bench as a veteran guy that will be ready to play when it matters. As Celtic fans we've seen how important this is in all our runs. XMan and Pritchard weren't exactly in the rotation last playoffs, but both come through in big moments that we all will remember.
We all love Papi and Mueller but it's the Orlando Cabrera's and Dave Roberts' that made it possible for the stars to shine.
I still think there will be a game were Torrey comes in and contributes as a solid vet, and gives us size at the 2/3 and hits some 3's when Brown/Tatum are in foul trouble, and Hauser isn't playing well.
