I guess I didn't realize how good Pierce was...

Post#1 » by No1CeltsFan » Fri Jan 25, 2008 8:38 pm

I am a die hard Pierce fan to say the least. But last night browsing the stats on NBA.com I was shocked to realize how good he was...

I was looking through the Lenovo Stats (+/-) and here's what I found.

The #1 player combo in the league is Pierce (#2 is KG)

The top 2 player combo are Pierce and KG ( Pierce and Allen #4 and Pierce and Rondo #6)

The top 3 player combo is the Big 3. Pierce is also in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th top 3 player combo too.

The top 4 player combo is Pierce, KG, Ray and Rondo. Pierce once again is also in the # 2, #3 and #6 4 player combo.

The top 5 player combo is our starting 5.

Also for mentioning KG is in every combo too for the most part.

Also another interesting fact. There are only 3 players in the NBA who average 20 ppg 5 rpb and 5 apg. Those 3 are: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce.

The reason I make this post is because it's All-Star reserve selecting time. While I have no doubt that he'll will be on the team, I just wanted to prove to those Pierce haters (and for some reason there are alot of them) that he is among the elite of the NBA. Simple as that!
Paul Pierce said it best about Caron Butler and the AS 2007 Game:

"Caron Butler should send me flowers for being injured so he could make the All-Star game, because if I was healthy, he wouldn’t be in there.”

what makes paul so special is that he has an inside game that is unreal, and when that is established
he will kill you with stepbacks and 3's

paul pierce needs to take the ball to the basket and all else is gravy
lately he has been settling for too many jumpers

I agree with you about that. When he's going to the hoop he's as unstoppable a player there is in the NBA. When he's getting too the line, as the Soprano's would say, "Forget about it". It's a wrap.

Pierce has been settling ALOT lately. Seems like he needs to be motivated to attack relentlessly (ie. The game in Indiana where Tinsley clocked Pierce on the head). I mean hes a great shooter, but his inside game is where its at.

That being said, yes, Pierce is amazing lol

Dang, man.. have you been in a cave for that past 10 years? All you had to do was watch the games to know how good PP is.

I think he's playing it smart this year. He's a little bit older, and like a running back who's in the second half of his career, he knows that he shouldn't take the pounding inside all year long. He is picking his spots, but will play inside more when the playoffs start.

Agreed. Pierce is so much more athletic than people give him credit for. He doesn't have to rely so much on his athleticism like so many others, which is why he is so durable. The high flyers, or the ones that rely and use their athleticism so much seem to always get hurt. PP only breaks out the monster dunks once in a while.

Thank you.

People are reverting back to old critisims of a diffrent team. If the celts aren't doing well then it must mean Pierce isn't doing enough of something.

You have to consider everytime he's passing this ball instead of getting it to the rim that's to a House or Posey at the 3. Or a Baby/Perk for a layup.

Yeah it isn't creating fouls, and yeah it isn't always effective. But there are times where it is, and that's why he's got that blend of scoring that only Kobe and LeBron also have.

Come playoff time he'll be used to max capacity and most effeciently at driving to the hoop... when neccessary.

We are a veterant jump shooting team now, as such the vets like to get there shots and we can't have Pierce constantly driving and not giving other people their opps. He's creation is a big part of this team, just like KG

He was always a good passer, but this season his passing (and willingness to give up shots to make an interior pass) has been off the charts, along with his much improved defense.

Paul Pierce is one the best players in the league and, perhaps, the most overrated. He is starting to get overshadowed by Garnett becuase KG's is so intense and this is his team, whatever that means. I really think PP is the team MVP.

yet, wade makes the all-star starters and pierce again is overlooked.

he will never get the recognition he deserves. he wont be the first nba player to be overlooked. thats just the way it is and star names (whether they play or not, ala vince carter in prev years) get the vote, not for the overall play and what they mean to their team.

its a joke really. I dont think the league realizes how good pierce is. only hometown fans do.

pierce is a monster this year and its not just because he has RA & KG. he is focused and on his own is playing really good defense and not bumbling the ball.
