Doc, T-Mac and player's attitudes

Post#1 » by Relative Autonomy » Sun Jan 27, 2008 7:11 pm

Did anyone catch the interview with Doc at the start of the second. He mentioned that KG was sulking becuase he wasn't allowed to play but he added something like "its better to have players you have to convince not to play than convince to play." Doc has often said comments like this, you know, about how motivated this team is. I often read those as silent jabs against McGrady. I know the standard trope on T-Mac is that he insanely talented but equally unmotivated. I was wondering if anyone knows if Doc's relationship with T-Mac got ugly towards the end and how that may inform Doc's coaching style now. For someone who is known as a player's coach and a motivator, T-Mac and the Magic are a blemish on his record.
