It looks like competition has stepped in the room. Your team is kickin azz in the league and SOME here are worried about our lakers. We recieved about as much help as you got from McHale so as far as I have head around here that means no help at all, just a good business move. SEE YALL in JUNE!!

did the nba help the celtics?

last time I checked Los Angeles package of Lamar Odom, and Andrew Bynum with picks, was much a better than what they actually got.

We don't know if that was the offer.

Besides C's had

- A proven big man
- A large expiring contract
- A very high pick (Minny's)

Roflmao. Al Jefferson alone is > Odom and Bynum. Add to that their pick back, which is sure to be lotto and is essential to their rebuilding, and Gomes/Green/Telfair/Huge expiring in Ratliff/One of our 1st Rounders. Yea. No package in the league was better than what we gave.

Come on man. What's up with all this crying about NBA fixing to help every other team but the Celtics? Do you really wanna be this pathetic? If the C's don't get Oden, it's Stern's fixing the lottery. If the Lakers get Gasol, it's Stern trying to help the Lakers. What more do you want to blame on Stern? That Len Bias and Lewis died prematurely? What about our not getting Duncan? How about Jordan never being on the Celtics? Shaq should have been in green?

We still have one of the best teams in the league and the best record. Just be happy with where we are. Stop crying! It makes all of us Celtic fans look like a bunch of pathetic cry babies.

A couple of things people need to stay focused with so you don't sound like a bunch of cooks, if that is even possible on a topic like this.

In the Garnett trade Boston returned a pick that very likely would have been a 2nd round pick by the time the protection ran out. But it also tied the Wolves hands as far as trades because of the limits placed on dealing draft picks. MINN basically got back a 2nd rounder and very likely a late first in '09.

If you ignore the money in this trade then you are only seeing half of the picture and it makes you sound like a crazy person.

This deal puts Memphis 14 mil under the cap with a boatload of extra 1st round draft picks. While FA is generally fools gold, when handled correctly capspace can be more valuable than talent.

I agree 100% .....

This is one of the most worthless threads I have reed , other than D. Howard's on Steriods .............LOLLLLLLL

Ya NBA helped the Lakers and No Memphis isnt going to go to Vegas .
Its the Kings , since the owners of the Kings are the Maloofs brothers and guess what they own Palms casino and 7 other casinos in Vegas , and they have the money to built the arena since Sac town doesnt want to support them with the new arena in Sac town.

Overall the Maloofs have the upper hand in Vegas NOBODY else does .

Boston First < Laker First (unless you are factoring in Ainge's drafting ability)
Boston should have a better record than LA even with Gasol. Plus Memphis gets the pick this year. Minn has to wait until next year.

Minny pick < Lakers Pick

That Minn. Pick will be a second rounder They still owe a first to the Clippers.

This is the stupidest thread I've EVER seen on anybodys board. With that said the offer we made to the T-Wolves was better then anybodys offer including the Celtics.

The only people who believe that are Laker fans and uneducated analysts. Minny got a franchise big, a very good role player (Gomes), a decent roleplayer (Telfair), a talented prospect (Green), Boston's pick and their own which they owed the Celts and a huge expiring, who is also a class guy and a great veteran presence to have in the locker room.

The Laker's offer wasn't nearly as good.

Yes, yes, and yes. No to Jordan and Shaq, but Stern had plenty to do with Jordan being handed titles and Shaq going to LA though.

1.) As pointed out, KG is much better than Gasol.

2.) I think people are sleeping a little bit on Javaris Crittenton.

3.) If you read up, Memphis just wasn't getting better offers (although Minny wasn't getting better offers than we gave either, which is why we could have at least kept one of the future picks we gave them IMO)

Return to Boston Celtics
