I think Gabe Pruitt is an up an coming player.. He was pretty good at USC and i think he could be a good backup PG and start here and there very soon.

Didn't we have this discussion with West already? These Portland guys have upside too. I remember people trying to write off Roy in the same way. <g> Roy doesn't have "upside" he isn't "athletic." that was pretty much the party line around here.. What is this the BillfromBoston effect? Only our scrubs have upside?

If Gabe Pruitt ends up being as good as Jack I would be very pleasead never mind having upside BEYOND Jack.. Let's be realistic here.

Enough with the Jarret Jack love already. The guy is a 9ppg 3apg 41% shooting back up pg. He is exactly the kind of guy you kill all the time. Just because he is one of the guys you have a man crush on doesn't make him any different than any of the other good but not good enough guys out there.

I don't know if Pruitt will be better than Jack but he doesn't have to do all that much to be in the same club.

Stats don't tell the whole story. He's a big PG, a good defender and very reliable guy to have at the PG slot. He's also a pretty good athlete with his own bit of upside.

His numbers aren't great, but he'll be in this league a long time. Whereas Pruitt as proven nothing. You're right of course that Pruitt could improve next year and be at the same level. But Jack's there now, and would be a perfect backup PG for us.

Again I am not trying to say Gabe is a better player than Jack now already said this in the thread. But Jack is who he is and numbers do tell the story as does the fact that he is backing up Steve Blake. Pruitt is taller than Jack and while not the physical penetrator that Jack is he is a better ball handler and shooter. There is little reason that Pruitt can't be a similiar if not better player than Jack 2 years from now.

There is nothing wrong with Jack he is decent back up PG a modern day Haywoode Workman, he would even help this team right now. He just isn't something that all young players need to aspire to be, he isn't a very effective player, he is in his 3rd season and 24 years old.

I wonder if Jack is just playing better now or is Portland showcasing him. His scoring seems to be steady and his minutes are on the rise again.

I still would like a Rondo/Jack tandem as oppose to a Rondo/Pruitt tandem. Because you can see what Jack's doing now and aren't seeing much from Pruitt. Pruitt just looks more like a capable offensive guard than a point guard like say Jamal Crawford or Larry Hughes. But, that isn't a bad thing since those two players are two of the better combo guards in the league.
