Maybe the finishing issues is a form of walkeritis/ Baronitis, i.e Rondo doesn't want to necessarily go to the Ft line; hopefullt that will change because he is exactly the kind of PG that can get there a lot.

That is a big flaw. At 60%, hackarondo could be a strategy when he gets in the lane - and I don't think he'll bounce back quite like shaq or wallace.

He seems to be shooting it much better of late though.

Who doesn't love Rondo...He has been taking over games lately and really i'm just hoping he'll continue this when KG gets back because then our offense will be deadly...

Didn't the suns give up essentailly Rondo and Deng for financial reasons and then trade for the shell of Shaq?

Rondo played GREAT last night and I am frankly very surprised how aggressive and GOOD he has been finishing at the hole.

In the past, not only wasn't he aggressive, but when he was, he couldn't finished.

It's like he drank a big gallon of confidence and that has made all the difference.

Still can't shoot though - which I do think is a big deal, especially in late game situations, especially when at those times the ball will likely go through KG or PP, both of whom are likely to get doubled and kick out to jump shooters.

Which is why I am thrilled almost as much by getting a shot at Sam I Am as I am about Rondo's development, which has been fantastic.

And I do think he has a chance to develop that jumpshot a la Tony Parker (who he is driving to the hole like right now, amazing!), but it likely ain't happening this year....

A point guard rotation of Rondo & Sam I Am is awesome!!!!

I find it hard to understand why more Celtic fans aren't posting on this thread. Perhaps it's saving face, I guess.

Go Rondo.

It's really good to see it pointed out early that he's only in his second year. It is difficult for players to make strides especially on their jumper over the course of their careers.... Rondo made significant improvement in only his second season. It's a testament to his work ethic, dedication, and ability. I hope nothing but the best while he's in a Celtic jersey, and tip my hat to him for what he's done so far. Here's to his keeping up the great work!

Rondo's success is going to be responsible for a whole new generation of PG busts:

the "all he needs is a J" PG.

GM's will think if Rondo can do it, my draft pick can.

I'm surprised that Rondo isn't averaging more assists in season two.

I would like for him to shoot the ball more and become a better finisher when he elects to drive to the rim instead. But, there's a lot to like about Rondo as a player. I hope he continues to shoot the ball, work on his free throw shooting and adds weight and gets stronger during the off season.

I'd thought this before... But, there's no reason why Rondo can't join Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Raymond Felton, Jose Calderon, Jameer Nelson and Devin Harris as the new wave of young point guards making a name for themselves from the past four drafts. I guess the jury is still out on Marcus Williams, Sergio Rodriguez and Sebastian Telfair.

I didn`t think Rondo was the answer for this team at PG because he couldn`t shoot but now I have obviously changed my mind.

I have never seen a player develop so much during a course of a season. From preseason games till today he has really made unbelievable progress. If he keeps working hard and if he furthermore improves his jumper especially off the dribble he will be special.

But the one thing that I have been most impressed with in the last few games is his confidence! You can be extremely talanted but if you play scared you will only be half as good. He is not affraid to get to the basket and take a jumper in the last quarter anymore and that is huge for his game and for this team.

I have to admit that when I first heard they drafted Rondo, I was mad they didn't take Marcus Williams.

He could still be a player but that's why I'm typing this while I work and Danny runs the team.

Good eye, DA.

Rondo has been an excellent third option while KG has been out, there have been times I wish he would make better decisions with the ball, he still passes some when he should shoot after penetration and makes a few ill advised drives where the other team has drawn charges but for the most part he has been very impressive as a pg in the tony parker mold since KG has been out.

I hope he can keep it up when KG gets back, if we could count on him for 15 points a game that would be HUGE, if the big 3 could account for 65 a game and rondo 15 we would only need 25 ppg from our C/Backup bigs/House and Posey and Allen.

Bump. In the 9 games w/o KG, the Celtics are 7-2 and Rondo is averaging...

Points per game: 15.9
Rebounds per game: 7
Assists per game: 5.44
Steals per game: 1.9
FG%: 53.77
FT%: 73.68

Oh, and just for **** and giggles he has added 5 blocks in the last 2 games.

This kid just gets better and better every game. My only complaint with him this year really has nothing to do with how good he is, but rather his mentality when the Big 3 are all healthy. I'd LOVE to see him stay this aggressive or close to it when all 3 are healthy and not be passive like he has been in some games. We are a much better basketball team when Rondo is playing aggressive and attacking the hoop consistently.

I think one of the most interesting things about Rondo is the direct correlation of his increased rebounding to the absence of KG and Perk. IMO it gives Rondo a lot more authority in the offense when he grabs those rebounds and sprints up the court.

Good bump kSkD! I understand what you're saying but you have to remember this is still only his second year in the league after spending only two years at Kentucky. Every NBA analyst will tell you PG is the hardest position to learn in the league. It's tough to play with living legends and NOT defer to them. The reason Chris Paul and Brandon Roy are so assertive is that their teams need them to be in order for them to be successful. Rondo defers because he can defer with the Celtics still plowing through their opponents. Give him another year or two and I think you'll see a terror of a player in Rajon on both ends of the floor. IMO, he's already playing at an all-star level. The kid just needs a little more confidence and experience.

I have to say that I love it when he sneaks down the baseline and rebounds or steals the rebound in front of the opposing player that just fought so hard to carve out that same space and only has his eyes on the basket. Especially when he just rips it down with one hand.
