I'll try to post here more often and read up on Elrod Enchilada. Most of my work is over on celticsblog and celticsgreen and I have started my own blog too but hardly anybody comments on it. Mostly, just busy and enjoying the wins.
I am grateful the Celtics won a championship before I cashed my 1st Social Security Check!

My problem is that I remember our 2002 crew being much more like orlando's board (overly sarcastic, dry humor, lots of image drops, basic paint editing, etc.) which has become automatic warnings here. I think most of the post bruno drops here are a step in the right direction only to see them get **** on with a warning followed by an immediate edit.
W/ the increased moddage I think too much emphasis has been made to stir up high school debate club like threads about everything. Makes me think of Kramer and having a family... "well I think that ray allen is still a top shooting gaurd.", "I do believe you are mistaken, he is a lovely shooting gaurd and I would love for him to help carry my groceries" "groceries, I love groceries, I hope you use a cloth bag rather than paper or plastic."
Disgusting. I much preferred all of us half-heartily ripping on one-another similar to how you would your friends at the bar than what is encouraged here.
agreed. the mods have made this site significantly more boring.
i actually like every single mod and former mod individually... but combined they form captain planet - the mod-master 2000
if this was physics blog i'd say fine... but its **** basketball. If i wanted to have a civil, censored, and boring conversation... well i have plenty of places for that.

OK, maybe this is the right time for a (former) mod to tell it like it is around here.
First off, as soon as you become a mod you are put through a gory ceremony of initiation. (I won't go into details, but a buck, a doe, and a case of vaseline are involved. The luckier ones among us get to do it with the doe, if you get my drift. Vaseline is used at the discretion of the commishes.)
Right after, you are sworn to secrecy regarding all that happens behind curtains here. You can't say anything to anybody, under any circumstance, here on the website or otherwise. To make sure they are dead serious about this business, they tell you your IP (fairly easy to find), then your postal address, then the address of the place you work, then the address of the school where you send your kids. They usually say they have photos too, but they don't say photos of what, and your mind spins.
So they now have you grabbed by the gonads. This is when they politely request you to turn from a friendly poster into a nazi. You are now part of the RealGM Gestapo (aka the moderator staff), which is no fun. (Does this explain why mods "change" once they become mods? Do you think mods can give a rat's ass about the forum being boring?)
You don't even know the extent of the tragedy going on until people whom you used to have great discussions with start hating you, starting threads about how much you suck as a mod, how much better the board was before you were appointed a mod, etc. etc.
You start wondering if stepping down as a mod would be a wise idea. Well, RealGM doesn't think so. Have you seen the movie "The Firm"? It is much easier becoming a mod than being allowed to retire. As soon as you talk to the commishes to express your desire to step down, they assign a Global Moderator to your case (what the hell did you think Global Mods were for?). The Global Mod reads each and every line you type, looking for encrypted messages you might be sending out. Meanwhile, your phone starts ringing in the middle of the night, your kids start being offered candy by strangers during breaks at school, your car doesn't start in the morning, your popcorn explodes in the microwave, your hamster gets herpes.
I could go on and on, but my life is too much at risk now as it is. I'd rather not tell how I was able to break away.
The only thing I ask of you is some understanding for the pressure the mods are under. So some of you would like to be mods? Well, each and every mod would like to be you!
If my post count never goes beyond 11,264 (the number of this post), then you'll know how betrayal is taken care of around here.

This year has sucked pretty hard for me -- work wise; really starting last October I haven't had much time to post let alone watch as many games as I'd like.
It's twice as disheartening now that the Celtics are actually a good team, but alas, what can I say?
I'm still trolling, but typically by the time I get around to posting what I want to say has already been articulated well by someone else.
But I do miss you guys.

exactly my point. now that SD is a non-mod he has been a better poster. Look, Mods are important - they volunteer their time to keep idiots like pubaguila from spamming every thread. I just get peeved when they over-mod or get on a high horse, but i've made my point.

I'm not sure what sentiment that expresses, but thanks for not being totally indifferent to my hiatus. I actually find myself agreeing with you much more often these days.
You are one of the posters that makes me turn my computer on for your response, you were always a great poster glad to see you still stop by.
To the idea that this was Ainge's plan all along. It certainly was one of his options but do you really think Ainge would have dealt Oden or Durant for KG or Ray I think not.
You can't judge him on what he might do you can only judge him on what he has done. Last year not so good this year looking like the second coming of Red.
I also don't think the most avid Ainge supporters were supporting the idea of turning Al and the young guys into two 30 year old all stars no matter who they were.

You're right about that, Sully. The order of the acquisitions had more than a few a little nonplussed. Darned good thing that the second gigantic shoe dropped, or I would not have been a happy camper one bit with just the Allen acquisition.
And you're right about Oden and Durant. Ainge would have taken either one and not thought twice about it.

I am on page 7 so far but have bookmarked it until later. I only visit other boards when someone posts a link. Maybe I should get out and about RealGM more often.

^ yeah some pretty interesting things have happened on real GM. One of the Atlanta owneres (or his PR guy who knows posted some ticket offers on their board), A guy Bucks readers are convinced is Charlie Bell posts occasionally on the Milwukee Board, Chris Bosh posted a video specifically for the Toronto board, Some Guy named Oneanswer has posted some of the funniest sketch comedy I have ever seen on the General Board, and back in the day the Portland board started in unbelievably hilarious photoshop to HA the Korean player.

Pretty much the same for me. Between my day job and my music studio there is little time or energy left to do anything more than read a few posts here and there.
My M.O. was to "try" and only post when I thought I had a unique thought or subject that had not been covered enough on the board. I was also a lurker for quite a while before submitting a 1st post.
I do miss many of the posters from the past and continue to appreciate those who put in a lot of time here.
Thanks to everyone since day one.
GO CELTICS!!!
