OT: When you guys see the Magic on the schedule?

Post#1 » by Edrock » Wed Mar 12, 2008 2:25 pm

Do you guys chalk up a loss or a win? I just think this would be an interesting way to guage the general impression of the non-Magic fan about the team that I follow.

I expect to win every game we play basically, but I was at the first Magic game in Orlando this season to see our first loss. I think because of that I feel iffy when I see them on the schedule, but I do expect to win the game. I seriously doubt too many Celtic fans at this point chalk up any future game as a loss.

The Magic are good. They've got a great player in Howard who no one matches up with. I think they're a little too inexperienced to be thinking title this year, but will be up near the top of the East for many seasons.

To answer your question, personally I think any random regular season game between the two could go either way.

If they face each other in the playoffs, I think the Celtics will be heavily favored to win based on experience and having the advantage at more positions.

Yeah, I'm like gamecock. I expect us to win every game, but Orlando is one of the handful of teams I don't expect an easy game. D-Howard is a certified monster, Hedo's playing Allstar level ball and Lewis is a dangerous offensive threat.

With that said, I still rather face Orlando than Cleveland in the playoffs because of one reason. I'm sure you can guess what or who that reason may be...

even though we lost to them twice ( once at the buzzer with no kg ) id have to say im not too scared of the magic yes they are a good team but the game on 12/23 when we won by 12 is the game i look think of when you say magic....rondo, allen, pierce, and garnett all had 20 pts........ nelson is no match for rondo who can drive to the basket and dish at will against him. not to mention casell and leon didnt even play in that game.

if we met them in the playoffs C's in 6

I think we beat them in a 7 game series, 4-2, but it's a tough one. ORL matches up pretty well with us. Yeah, Rondo can get around Nelson, but Jameer is stronger and can get buckets when he is hot.

Hedo Turkoglu is one of my fav players this year. He really deserved All Star, and he's at least played Pierce even in the games so far.

Then there's Howard. Man, I do not want to see Scal defending him again. Maybe with Perk/Powe/Brown we can slow Superman down just a little. KG has the experience here and will be on fire, negating Howard.

I don't think ORL can guard us on the perimeter well enough. My guess is that if we get them in the second round Ray Allen will outshine his old compatriot Rashard Lewis and end up the series MVP.

Same here, it's the regular season so 3 point teams can get hot and the result can be anything.

If I see them in the playoffs I think win in 5 or 6, with a big helping of Cassell on the low post against their PGs.

Orlando's got a very underrated team. I think they are better then golden boy Lebron and the Cavs, but I think the Celtics can beat either team.

Who knows though? On any given night one team could win. A best of 7 will determine who is the best.

I think: ugh, I hope they decide to guard Turkoglu this game.

Orlando has a very bright future and they are a solid team right now. I think in say 4 or 5 years The Magic and Cavs will be the teams to wrecken with in the East when the Celtics and Pistons are on their last legs. Dwight Howard is the best young big man in the NBA and Turkoglu and Lewis are two of the best shooters in the league and they are so tall their shots are nearly unblockable.

One of the major flaws of your team right now is not having a guy to put next to DHoward down low. I think your team badly needs a real PF and needs to stop playing Lewis or Turkoglu at the 4. It shoudn't be that hard for your team to pick up a banger in free agency with the MLE or maybe through the draft. I also think you need to upgrade in the backcourt. You guys are decent to below avg at 2 guard. You need Jameer Nelson to improve a lot in the next few years though to become a championship level team. He is a solid point guard right now but he isn't as good as Chris Paul, Deron Williams, or some of the other young points in the NBA.

I chalk up a win. Howard is the Magics best player. But his poor free throw shooting is their achilles heel. The Celtics know this and have the depth to exploit it.
