For those who haven't been paying attention, Option No. 2 is how this played out. Hibbert averaged 13.4 points and 6.4 rebounds as a senior, not much different from the 12.9 points and 6.9 rebounds he averaged as a junior. Still, his stock has plummeted in scout's eyes because he's now deemed too slow and unathletic to flourish in the NBA. I happen to agree.
Who wrote this Bonsa? It is nonsense. Scouts thought the same thing of Hibbert last year they do now and frankly from what I have read most don't change their estimations of a players athletic ability and quickness too much.
Hibbert didn't hurt himself by going back to school because he wasn't a lock to go in the first round, this lottery talk is nonsense. Having seen them in the NBA makes it difficult to assess but I think Landry, Davis, McRoberts, and Gray may have all been considered to be equal or better prospects and all slid to the second round.
The thing with Hibbert is that he is a decent 7 footer so he is good to have if the team you are playing against has a good to great 7'. But he isn't going to impact the game in a way that you are going to use him if you don't have to. I wouldn't mind Boston picking him up because he can block a shot, score and pass the ball at the 5 but basically he is the type of player that isn't going to kill you, but that is about it.
Against ATL I am seeing exactly what I wanted from Leon. He is showing the lateral quickness and body control to guard SF off the dribble. It is like he has downloaded Posey's defensive game to go with his ferocious rebounding. If he becomes the kind of guy who can do some things defensively against anybody, ala a Posey or Bo Outlaw, added to his offensive game then it just becomes about matchups more than position.
