Atlanta is doing their best to upset Boston

I mean it was suppose to be a five game series at the most.

The Hawks hope to do what the Warriors succeeded in doing against the Mavericks in the 2006-2007 playoffs. That is, to eliminate the top seed being the eighth seed.

it's a nice early test. the C's have done a lot of things wrong. if they don't clean it up they won't get past the next round even if they beat the hawks.

hopefully the c's will go back to sharing the ball, helping on D, and doing the things that got them 66 wins. this doesn't look like a 66 win team right now.

I was the one proclaiming during the regular season not to underestimate these guys while everyone here laughed me off and said it would be a sweep.

We have some major adjustments to make.

Celtics=Pats Hawks=Giants???

This can't be good for Boston. Ray Allen will need to step it up on Wednesday. This could indicate a start for Powe and Davis and more playing time for Tony Allen and House.

I would be even more shocked if Boston were to lose game five than I'm of them already losing game four.

To make matters worse for the Celtics, it's possible that Garnett and Kendrick Perkins could be suspended for Game 5 for their involvement in a second-quarter skirmish last night. Hawks forward Marvin Williams also is in jeopardy. Boston Globe

Boston can still beat this team without KG and Perkins. It will be hard.

But they have beaten top teams in the NBA without one of the big 3. Pierce dismantled the Spurs without KG.

They just need to PRETEND they are playing the Lakers, Spurs, or Pistons. Some superior team, some benchmark for Boston's title hopes.
Then the C's would actually play up to their ability.
Right now, they are playing down to Atlanta, however well Atlanta may be playing. The great Cetlic defense that could shut down any team in the regular season (Kobe, Dallas, etc) just isn't there.

Jesus **** Christ, if I have to see/hear one more insult from an outside fan bringing up the Pats, I'm going to **** murder someone. I swear non-New England fans dwell more on the Pats loss than us Pats fans do. :banghead:

Interesting. I mean wasn't Stern in attendance of game four? I reckon they were given the benefit of the doubt. But, what of Pierce's fine? That still doesn't make sense. What makes sense in the NBA anymore? Pierce is fined for a perceived to be threaten hand gesture and Horford isn't for his blatant taunting? What about that what happened between Garnett and Pachulia?

No suspensions for Celtics, Hawks

The Celtics will have no fines or suspensions stemming from a skirmish during Game 4 of their playoff series Monday night against the Hawks in Atlanta, according to an NBA official.

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett pushed referee Ed Rush off of him during the skirmish. Celtics center Kendrick Perkins and Atlanta forward Marvin Williams also stepped slightly on the playing floor from the bench.

Garnett said during today's practice he didn't think he should be suspended and Perkins expressed hope he wouldn't be. The end result is that both teams will have a full complement of players available for Game 5 in Boston Wednesday night. Boston Globe

Detroit took care of business on the road and Boston doesn't do the same. At worst, I saw this as a five-game series. But, give Atlanta credit. Boston doesn't look like a team that won the most regular season games and was the best defensive team. They've not shown the consistency in this series to avoid a seventh game.

What happens to the Celtics in the fourth quarter on the road in this series? You're down 98-100 and you don't go inside for the two and try to foul Smith out of the game. Wow. Bad coaching decisions in my opinion. Boston wouldn't be in this situation had they'd won game four like it seem they would. They could win game seven but the opportunity to have days off for rest from ending this series days ago were lost. Did the Lakers even play in the first round? It's frustrating... Since when can't Boston win on the road?

Well, at least it'll be a 1:00pm game on Sunday.

Please don't bracket Pistons and Celts, at least not for the 1st round. Pistons took care of business in game 6 on the road by delivering a beat-down.

Like Boston, Detroit shouldn't have been in a game six situation. So, the Pistons aren't anything special. Yes, they do need to be mentioned here.

keep telling yourself that, along with maybe "the refs have it in for the Celtics". That should decrease the hilarity of having to play an elimination game against a 37 win team.

Yeah gotta disagree Bonsai. Detroit actually won on the road, and STOMPED the Sixers in game 6. They are still in a different league than the Cs.

Well, Detroit versus Boston is the most anticipated match up in the eastern conference. So, we'll see won't we. I'll take a confident team (Boston) ahead of an arrogant team (Detroit) any day. The Pistons have the edge in experience because they've been together as starting teammates for a while. Ben Wallace is gone but McDyess stepped right in.

Should Boston have concern for Detroit as a potential opponent? Yes. Is Detroit a better team than Boston? No. Not when you consider Boston's defense and deeper bench.
