Garnett doesn't finish well inside with contact. That's his issue. He doesn't have the strength to finish after contact at a high percentage. Playoff basketball games are more physical in the paint and the refs allow more contact. So it's easy to understand why Garnett is less effective overall. Now consider the fact that Atlanta is littered with excellent athletes who place a premium on challenging shots and the picture is clear. Garnett is relegated to a jumpshooting-fadeaway player (which seems to be his preferred style of play regardless) while lacking the ability to put the ball on the floor to beat the quicker Hawks defenders to the basket. Garnett is quite inconsistent and unreliable as a first option for these reasons.
