Ugh, a one o'clock game.

Post#1 » by UGA Hayes » Sat May 3, 2008 2:48 pm

I gotta say we couldn't have picked a worse time to have to play an early morning game. I've never been to a good sporting event when the game was in the morning. Even with a game 7 I wouldn't be surprised if the fans were flat. To make matters worse I think it favors the younger team. I would be a lot less worried if this was just a normal night game. Anone else feel this way? Also I'm pretty nervous about what refs we get. If we get Javie we could be in big trouble.

I don't know---do the Patriots play their games in the "early morning" This is a perfect time to play for all athletes--but even better for vets. The older you are the more you wear down as the day progresses. The Patriots and other NFL teams hate night games.

Did you mean "early afternoon?"

There really are no excuses for this team or its coach at this point.

Yeah I meant afternoon. I know in my job when I have to work a night shift it really screw me up .I worry that a day shift is the same deal bball players. If anything I would thing NFL guys would be thrown off more by night games..

I agree the normal time is 7:00 in the NBA... but no games in the playoffs begin that time so this is as good as any time.... I think better, because no player likes to wait around all day to play the big ones....the sooner the better... most athletes are at their peak at around 10-11 AM and ready to roll. 1:00 may be as close to the ideal time as anyone can expect----and how many sunday afternoon games has this franchise played and won in its long glorious history?? for year the sunday afternoon game was the prime time for the NBA and the Celts.

I didn't like afternoon games on the road because I think many Celtics (like PP...) went out in 2004, 2005 and 2006 before them and weren't ready for pro ball on the next day. But not now, not in 2008. They will be as ready as for the other games at Boston. And for me it's great. I can watch the game starting at 7 pm in the evening.

I'm liking it. I'm on the West Coast and have 2 midterms on Monday, so now I can finish watching by 1 and hit the books for 12 hours after. :\

It shouldn't really matter for a 65+ win team.

I'm just happy it isn't 8/8:30 pm. Frankly I'm sick of having to wait for it to start and then have the game end at mid-night.

I'd love to see the games start at 6pm EST. Be over by 8:30/9pm.

And then go out and have fun for another 4 hours. Rather then it being almost mid-night and I might as well pack it in and waste some time before I go to sleep.

1pm is great for a Sunday. No matter what the result I still have a nice dinner and a fun night ahead of me.

I'm just worried for Ray Allen because of his craziness with his routine.

Sunday afternoon @ 1:00 is a classic playoff game time, does anyone recall the great Sunday playoff games of the 80's? Game 7 Bos / Philly 1981, couldn't be beat. I'll be there tomorrow, we will not lose.

Anyone else think for atleast one game Doc should give Ray Ray the green lights and have him start shooting like crazy?

Doc should try that if the Celtics get a 10 Point lead to put the Steak Knife into the Hawks chances to win.

If it looks like Ray's off then get back to plan a

if theyre going for the one-man approach id prefer Paul to KG or Ray. he takes it to the hole consistently and will torch whoevers guarding him. i know he hasnt forgotten to ballhog, he perfected it a couple years ago.

He was hitting mid range shots well. They need to run him off 2-3 screens like DET does with Rip, to free him up. Instead the offensive gameplan is pure **** and they make Ray sit at the 3-point line in the corner or elbow, and very rarely he gets to run a P&R. Why not just let him come off screens to catch and shoot? He's pretty damn good at it.

Afternoon games suck. IIRC, the C's play poorly on afternoon games. So yeah, I'm kind of worried.
