Will Rondo make 1st or 2nd team all-nba defense?

Chris Paul and Kobe will be first team back court

Who's 2nd team?

Chris Paul: all nba first team defense???

I'll admit I didn't see him a lot this year, but Rondo abused him.

Paul has a lot of steals, that always helps (see Iverson A.)

Guard candidates are Kobe, Bell, Billups, Paul, Rondo...

If Kidd gets in on name recognition I'll puke.

Also, Chicago's defense was average at best this year so hopefully no Hinrich.

My guess:

1st team:
C:Camby
F:KG
F:Battier
G:Kobe
G:Paul

2nd team:
C:Duncan
F:Prince
F:Josh Smith
G:Bell
G:Billups

I think Rondo will get it. He got plenty of recognition this year and played on the best defensive team, which is probably a good recipe for success. He deserves first team honors here.

Well Paul and Kobe both got a lot more votes for DPOY.

Rondo just got one 3rd place vote.

But its NBA head coaches who voted for defensive teams, not writers.

So coaches should know more than the sports writers.

I hope he does, but I doubt he will. The teams from year-to-year are practically the same

I don't understand why Bell gets so much recognition as a defender, I've never seen him stand out in any game. A lot of it has to do with the games I've seen against kobe.

How would you guys compare Bell to Pierce? I was hoping Pierce would crack the all defensive this year.

Agreed. Clotheslining Kobe does not make you a good defender. This guy is such a cheap shot artist. There was one game in the first round this year where I saw him chase down Tony Parker on a fast break, stick his leg in front of Parker's, and trip him up. At regular speed, it looked like Tony just lost his footing. But when they slowed it down, it was obvious Bell sped up, then slowed down to put his leg in front of Parker's mid-stride. Not a big fan of Raja Bell. :nonono:

If you can somehow foul someone and stop a hoop without it looking like a foul, why wouldnt you do it everytime?

Not saying its a clean play or that its morally acceptable, but to me it sounds like a guy that puts winning above everything and is trying to earn his team another posession.

Is it cheap? Yeah I guess, but if the refs cant tell he's fouling someone I cant blame him for doing it.

^ Even though its the opposite scenario its pretty similar to flopping IMO.

Fouling someone when it doesnt look like a foul versus not being fouled but making it look like you were.

Without rules to discourage flopping why wouldnt you flop? People can cry and moan all they want about Manu and Lebron flopping, but the truth is that the league's rules dont discourage exaggerating contact, and until they do its in the players best interest to do whatever he can to get a foul call.

I guess in teh other scenario that arent really rule changes you could make to stop Raja Bell's play (since you were saying it was actually a foul, but just too tough to notice), but I guess my main point is if you can get away with something and it helps your team, you try to do it everytime...
