The Celtics' renaissance on the court isn't the only proof it was a wise investment. Grousbeck, a Massachusetts native who bought the team with his father, Irv, and Pagliuca, last week turned down a "credible offer" to sell the team for $600 million.
Grousbeck wouldn't say who made the offer but made this point clear: "It's not for sale."
Why would it be? These eclectic owners, who care more about raising the Celtics' 17th championship banner than making money, are having too much fun.
"You have to put the Celtics first," Grousbeck said. "There were 16 championships for Red Auerbach and the players, and we're trying to run it in their honor. So I've learned never to forget that."
