From all accounts Perk already has that shot (he's just not confident in it). What I don't get is that we already have that guy that spreads the defense in KG. I would have agreed with Perk having that shot last year when we had Big Al because Al's is a true low post player, but KG is more of a perimeter scorer (He can post up with the best of them though) so to me Perk is more valuable to this team by becoming a consistent low post threat in the coming years. That would allow Garnett to stay on the perimeter and not have to take the pounding in the paint.

Perk with a jumper (he didn't hesitate)

For some reason Perk hates Detroit (probably due to the comments by Sheed at the start of the season).

My best Perk clip since he just looks like he's about to kill Bynum for hacking at him with those short shorts (lol).

Kids Are Alright wrote:Pogue Mahone's comments about Perk with the ball in the post vs Ray-Ray's volume shooting hits home with me. The entire Celtics Nation winced last night when Perk finally missed a shot and most of us probably felt he ought to be benched despite making his first 5 shots. Know your role, Perk.
Ray was 3 for 13 and was dinging threes left and right and missed another wide open layup.

Perk is a very good matchup against weak post teams. He still struggles against bigger men (read Z).

I think we'll be able to use the combo of Perk and KG against LA after we win two of the next three....Pau's no defender...

Know your role? 5 of 6 sounds like knowing your role and not a reason to be benched to me. Perk knows his role as well as anyone on this team, didn't he set the record for field goal % by a Celtic this season? That says to me he's not taking shots he shouldn't be. If he starts trying to run the middle on the fast break, talk to me then  . Perk's rebounding numbers aren't consistent (in response to whoever brought that up), but if you watch, he is very consistent about blocking out, which is key to team rebounding. He might not go and get rebounds like KG or a Ben Wallace, but he usually keeps his man off the boards also.

What did Sheed say about Perk at the start of the year?

If I remember correctly Sheed made a statement about how he didn't think very highly of our current team because of Perk and Rondo. I can't find the link but I am pretty sure thats close to what he said. It was during the time when the media was questioning the how the chemistry and cohesion of the team would be.

er, "know your role" was meant to be a joke as he is always known as a garbage man sort of scorer......

jeesh.

Perk is what he is. We could easily do worse, and we could easily do better.

I still think we need a pogo stick big to compliment him off the bench.

The fouls are the big problem for him.

Shortly before he fouled out tonight, his rebounding went to heck because he was afraid of the foul. If he's just a little klutzy and hence incapable of playing hard without fouling -- well, he'll still improve by becoming a better scorer, but he won't evolve all that much from what he now is.

I hope (and expect) he'll do better than that ...

As expected, Perkins followed a great game 3 with a bad game 4. Perkins commited stupid fouls, left McDyess open all day in the 1st half and didn't rebound well.

Quite frankly, Perk was our best player tonight. He played pretty good, and he was guarding Sheed, not Dice.

The leaving McDyess wide open is really puzzling. It's pretty obvious the guy is a great mid-range shooter and he has a reputation for being a shooter. There's really no excuse for sagging off him by 8 feet and letting him knock down uncontested mid-range jumpers.

Perkins just doesn't bring enough offense to the table to be giving up as many points to McDyess as he is without him being a major liability out there.
