Our chances in this series revolve around our team D

I think offensively we're going to feel like we've been set free after Detroit and Cleveland, Kobe is a good defender but Fish, Vlad, Odom and Pau just aren't that intimidating. So as usual our D is probably going to decide this thing.

The best way to attack the Lakers defensively IMO is to man up perk on gasol, trying not to foul him and being ready to keep him off the offensive boards. Just contest everything and try to keep him from scoring efficiently. KG can really limit Odom and be ready to help on penetration, I think if Lamar get some open shots we'll have to live with it, he's not going to knock em down like McDyess did in the beginning of the Pistons series, he's streakier. KG is a better, quicker help defender than Perk also, so Perk should stay home on Gasol as much as possible. Rondo should stick to Fisher, that match-up doesn't scare me too much, just don't give him open looks from the arc. Same with Ray covering Vlad. Paul Pierce is the only guy to cover Kobe, no one can stop him, but Paul can make him work for it and is smart enough to send him to KG on penetration. I really thinks the thought of Tony Allen defending Kobe off the bench are a mistake, Tony is a good one on one defender but no one can defend Kobe like that (plus Tony hasn't seen the floor in a month), we need someone like Posey who has the length to give Kobe a little space (and still contest his jumper) so he doesn't just blow by and the savvy to turn him to KG when he does drive. From there it is all about crisp rotation, the Laker swill swing the ball around the perimeter to the open man, we've got to get there quick.

This series won't be won with block shots or stealing the ball on a gamble, it'll be won if we can keep them taking lower percentage shots, with staying home on D and keeping them from getting second chance points. They are the best offense in the league, they are going to score, but try to keep them taking contested jumpers and we have a good chance, IMO.

These are just my thoughts, I'm no coach, looking for some input here.

^ I agree, i think that's the best way to defend them. Wonder how Ray vs Vlade's gonna work out, i guess they know each other pretty well from their Seattle days

Ray should have no problem driving to the hoop against him like he's been doing lately when his shots don't fall.
As far as defending him goes, you just can't leave him open at the arc.
Shouldn't be too hard for Ray.

Yeah, Vlad doesn't scare me unless the rotations don't get there, that and put a body on him on the boards. The scariest thing about the lakers is how well they can space the floor, it can draw our defense off the glass, so box outs are going to be a key also.

yeah i agree, we handled them in the regular season playing this way. granted they now have gasol so perk is just going to have to step his game up. i think we'll be ok cuz even if perk gets into foul trouble we not have pj brown who is more than capable of covering gasol as well...
