I found her tone and delivery absolutely grating. And she always came off as insipidly vacuous, which is strange given her somewhat extensive history covering sports.

Exactly. She was fine, I think she honestly cared about her job and tried to connect with the Boston audience. I didn't think she tried "too hard"; better than someone being really bored and going through the motions.
Also, does every discussion about any female sportscaster have to focus on her looks???
