As a lakers fan there is no reason to defender whether Gasol is a soft defender......
He is.....but he plays good team defense.
Teams that cannot play D dont make it to the WCF beatign 50 plus win teams and win games by less then a 100 like the lakers have.
The celtics are better on D.....the Lakers are capable of playing good D and are better on O

Good call.
At first I was reminded we shouldn't talk, because remember that jerk during the Cleveland series that equated everyone's registered date with when they were a fan, and thus we were all bandwagon jumpers? Regardless of the fact he was totally wrong, one only has to remember there is no such thing as a real diehard Lakers fan and all is well. (No "real" fans show up right before halftime for a game)
Too be honest, I sometimes do that for Celtics games. The reason: all the tickets are sold out to the people who go to the game because it's the thign to do. I wait till the 2nd quarter to get the tickets from a scalper for next to nothing. I'm a real fan, but also a college student so therefore I can't afford the face values, let alone the scalped up prices.

That statement couldn't be more wrong, Gasol is the 4th best player in the series, it goes Kobe, Kg, Pierce, and then Gasol. I really can't see how any Celtic fans besides you would disagree.
Gasol as franchise player never won a playoff game. Gasol as franchise player was leading his team to one of worst records in NBA year after year.
Sure, even guys like Kobe, Pierce and Garnett can be lottery teams without a decent #2 option. Even Odom is better than anybody Pierce ever played with before this year for example.
But Ray Allen as best player has been a far better player than Gasol. Kobe can make players around him look better than they are. Heck, Lebron James makes Boobie Gibson actually look like a star.
But make no mistake.... Gasol and Odom are the worst of the 6 stars in this series.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

You're certainly right in that Gasol is not a franchise player but neither is Ray Allen. The only franchise players in this series are Kobe, KG, and Peirce. In fact, at this point in his career Allen is not as good as either Gasol or Odom. He has become an almost exclusively spot-up shooter who has shot pretty poorly through the playoffs so far (40% from the field, 34% from 3pt). He's still a dangerous player but is nowhere near the player he was just a couple of years ago.

Based on the PER Allenis the 14th ranked SG for the playoffs and the 19th ranked in the regular season. And yes I know that the PER rankings are definitely not perfect but for comparison; Kobe was #2 in the regular season and #1 in the playoffs at SG; Pierce was #4 in the regular season and #5 in the playoffs at SF; and KG was #1 regular season and #2 playoffs at PF. Clearly Allen is no longer in the same class as KG, Pierce, or Kobe. Not saying that he isn't still a quality SG if he's a franchise player then I guess Ronnie Brewer is as well, he ranked out higher than Allen in the regular season and the playoffs. Wow, just think how good you guys would be if you had Brewer, four franchise players on one team would be unstoppable.
