Since somebody mentioned the name before, what are the chances we go for Kwame Brown to back Perk up next year. Nobody is going to pay him with his bust label so it might be a low risk move. Guy is still young and can play defense. He'd be better than Pollard at least.

As to Perk, he plays his role what more can you ask of him. He has no offensive game but he's an aftertought on the offensive scheme. He has issue guarding mobile face up PFs but he's usually asked to guard back to to the basket Cs. At 23 he gives us the perfect complimentary piece to Garnett a tough guy that can play the enforcer role in the paint who'll give you a couple of offensive rebounds a game to boot. His point production is going to be proportional to the sloppyness of the opponents help defense.

God no. Kwame is the Anti-Perkins when it comes to attitude, conditioning, and all around care for the game. Perkins LOVES to play basketball and has worked to get better every season and offseason. He is 100% coachable. Kwame is squandered talent. Unless he came here for near-minimum money, which he'd never do, I'll take a pass. He is phenomenally gifted with size, strength, and quickness, but ever since MJ repeatedly destroyed his confidence, I don't think he has ever found a way to love the game again.

You don't want a selfish SOB as a roleplayer.. There is no chance we go for Kwame, IMHO.

We don't have a backup center at all for next year so lets trade our starting center. Thats a GREAT idea. Have you guys seen the quality of NBA centers? Perk is not great but neither is most of the NBA. What else can we do?

I see what you mean in terms of personality but one would think that with the way he's been trashed in the media and how he's been tossed around by teams that he'd be humbled from it. I don't think anybody is going to want to pay him next year and we need a backup C so why not for a young one assuming he can be had for cheap. This of course assumes we go in another direction in the draft since that could nullify our needs. Perk is Perk, until he proves he can consistently play 30-35 mins a night, we need to be thinking about getting a good back up to shore up those minutes.
