Ironically, basketball was invented by a Canadian, James Naismith.
I don't know, perhaps it's hard for some Bostonians to identify with the sport of hockey. Identification is important here. The race and ethnicity of professional players could play a part in how that would influence the interest of a sports fan in a particular sport. Do you see a player that "looks" like you or have an easily identifiable name or one that's simpler to pronounce? They may ask themselves.
For me, I'm a fan of professional basketball and football. I can watch collegiate basketball or football or a major tennis tournament. But, even then, admittedly, root for certain American (women) players of tennis. Also, I dig some of the events of the X Games. I'm not much of a baseball or hockey fan but can watch the local teams during the playoffs. Probably, only professional baseball for the pitching duels, specifically. But, I'm a fan of the home teams only. So, if anyone of the four major franchises in Boston/Foxborough succeed. I'm interested. Still, my interest in the Bruins personally is no more there than my interest in the Revolution. I don't tend to think of those two franchises right away as far as the latest news concerning the local teams.
Pats and Sox but why no B's?

I know Chara as been to a few games. Its to bad, because hockey is back here in Boston, ive never seen such a great atmosphere in the crowd during the playoffs. They have a real good young team, if you do not watch hockey to much due to the fact the b's have been terrible for the past 10 years. You might want to tune in next year. Its real exciting, they play with so much emotion, they really can turn a casual fan into a diehard.

I was at Bruins-Canadiens game 6 and Celtics-Pistons game 5. The Bruins game was much louder, though the circumstances were quite different.
The B's are going places next year, they've got a great young team. They're finally playing tough, physical hockey again.

Yea that was an amazing game. I went to game two, the double ot winner by savard. I have never heard a place abrupt like that. It was the best experience I have ever been apart off when it comes to going to a sporting event.
The Bruins play hockey the way it should be played.
