The talking heads on ESPN are saying the Paul should win Finals MVP for scoring while playing defense on Kobe, but they left out the fact that Ray has been guarding him almost exclusively for the first 3.5 games!

How much does a player's performance in a loss matter? Paul has probably played better than Ray in the wins, but Ray showed up in game 3 while Pierce disappeared.

This was awesome btw.

How did he make that?

Suck is too strong a word. Not that I'm in Ray's inner circle, but I think he'd be perfectly happy to just win the game and get the ring.

Trading Ray is not the answer since his market value is far lower than his book value. That being said, I do believe the C's will need a backup Center and playing Leon Powe in these finals have increased his trade value.

If the C's can find a way to package the 30th pick and Powe to move up in the draft for a guy like Roy Hibbert, that would be huge.

It was probably a blessing in disguise that the first two rounds went 7 games. Otherwise Ray's slump could have extended into the Finals.

You mean the ECF. We're not beating DET with a guy getting outplayed by Wally as our starting SG.

Ray's certianly a weird one. It's the playoffs and it he doesn't play well untill he plays rival guards like Rip [whoe's Connecticut's best?] and Kobe [well documented rivalry]

I don't think that's weird. He was slumping and he was over thinking things. But against his rivals he was just in "automatic" mode out there..

they said he was in a slump because "Ray's stepfather was nearly the victim of a murder for hire back in 2003 just before he married Ray's mother, and the man behind the attempted murder turned out to be Ray's stepfather's ex-wife's husband ... and forgiveness started to set in. The trial started in November, but the man didn't wind up getting convicted until the day of Game 6 of the first-round series against the Hawks." (Scoop Jackson)
