KG's Finger Tape

What is KG wearing on his fingers? I know that he's got tape on a couple, but one of his fingers has this piece of rectangular fabric sticking off of it. He could easily slice somebodies eye open with this thing. Does anyone know what the purpose of it's design is?

It's basically a little ace bandage for your fingers. I think it's made of spandex or lycra or something and certainly wouldn't cut anyone's eye. You can see it's always flying off during the games. He does it to honor Malik Sealy who was killed in a care accident on his way home from KG's 24th birthday party.
