As I understand it, the Celtics no longer are interested in Swift. They have given up on him due to "lifestyle choices."

It was halfway through the playoffs until PJ's legs returned, but he did it. Brown gets a unique spot in Celtics lore; one of the best stories of a remarkable season.

If I was PJ, I'm putting a wall sized mural of me dunking on Kobe and sitting back and relaxing, telling everyone the tale of the Boston celtics 17th championship.

Thank you PJ! You get to retire a winner, getting a ring with the right franchise!

PJ is not easily replaceable. We wouldn't even have gotten out of 2nd round, if he didn't absolutely take over in game 7 down the stretch. You can't just look at his raw numbers and think you can plug any stiff (like Robert Swift, UGH... I can't believe people are still talking about this guy...) and get the same result.

I hope eventually, he'll change his mind and come back for another year. We gotta defend this mother ****!!

All the PJ to retire or to come back talk is rather pointless at this point. If he does come back, it would be right before the deadline. This would save his legs and give us more minutes for Powe, Davis and whomever we draft or sign.

As far as a replacement goes.... I'll say it again.... Alonzo Mourning! In my mind this makes so much sense. But then again I have about 50 of his cards in my parents attic. I would love to have Zo and PJ reunited in Boston!

^^Blech. I've never been a Mourning fan, and why bring in an aging center with health issues, vs PJ who is just aging? No thanks!

Agreed! Mourning blows and he is done. We're not in business of bringing old trash just because they are old. PJ was the man! That's why I want him back, not just because he's old. Although I must admit that I do have an unreasonable amount of man-love for Sir PJ Brown.

I agree that PJ isn't "easily replaceable" but, let's face it, he'll be 39 and you can't guarantee he's going to perform at the level he did in the playoffs for another season. It worked this year because he had a few months to play his way into shape and was fresh for the playoffs.

The Celtics should follow a similar pattern for next year. Wait until February, see if you can make a trade for length or ring some doorbells (like Mourning) and bring someone out of retirement in time for the playoff run.

With the chance of losing your entire playoff bench (Posey, House, Brown, Allen, Cassell) I see no reason to prioritize or throw a ton of money at your oldest player who just came out of retirement. Blow your wad on a versatile player with a number of good years left in him (Posey) and then worry about the rest.

Obviously Posey is the priority, but PJ Brown probably was the 2nd most important player off the bench for us in the playoffs. Besides, PJ Brown is not signing for anything more than veteran's mininum, so it's not like we're dipping into luxury tax to sign him.

^^^Agreed. And NO TO MOURNING. The guy has been overrated his whole career...he's good, yes, but some people calling him borderline HOF? Gimme a break. He seems to have a pretty bad attitude and his health issues make him a risk.

Why all the 'Zo hate? He's nearly the perfect guy for the role.

Because he sux? And he's basically another Sam Cassell. He doesn't pass, has a massive ego and all the fools are loving him based on his name value.

How many more times do I have to remind people that it's 2008, not 2002?

^^Thanks for backing me up, tombattor. And I wouldn't want Zo even in 2002, let alone now in 2008

Return to Boston Celtics
