To screw around and not give Posey a 4 year deal at near the Max MLE (quite understandable after the cutesy game the Celts played last summer to split the MLE between Posey and House rather than give Posey the MLE and House the LLE), well, that would be foolish.

Posey is an essential defender and 3 point shooter the next two years, when the Celts will have a great chance to repeat.

Meh. I love how the guys that weren't good enough at the beginning last year are suddenly an indispensible uber bench. <g> Our bench was fine last year for two real reasons..

1) They are playing with three very talented players who make people better.

2) They weren't THAT much worse talent wise then what other teams had.

But they can all be replaced - even Posey. I love House. I liked him better then West but he can be replaced as well. I think some of those guys are coming back (my bet Posey) but I wouldn't be shocked with significant turnover..

If Posey/House/PJ BRown turned into Josh Childress/Tyrone Lue/Zo would we be sunk? I doubt it.

Hey Pete, don't forget the three ball. House and Posey are also great complimentary players to PGA because they spread the floor like no other. Lue has good percentages but not the volumes House has. And Childress simply has no jumpshot.

Meh. I love how people hijack threads with mockery directed at points of view held by unknown people, not germane to the thread.

House, TAllen, Posey and Cassell should be back. Pollard and PJ Brown have enough. We have two opening spots for Giddens and Walker. Erden got an one year contract with Europe. We are already all set. We could swap Pruitt/Scalabrine for Robert Swift. We just invited Jackie Butler and David Noel. We are very loaded.

Pete -

Which of the phantoms that you say can easily replace Posey can:

1) Guard LeBron James (size) AND Kobe (quickness) without fouling out
2) Shoot 3's at 36% (effectively 54% from 2)
3) Has the size to screen players off the boards, Posey is 6' 7" without shoes
4) Shoot Free Throws over 80% (crucial late in games)
5) Available,
6) Available for the mid-level or less, and will take less than a 4 year guaranteed deal

Luv to see your list of alternatives.

Give Posey the max in a 4 year guaranteed deal with 8% raises the first two years,
minus a 3 year deal for Walker to start, and be thankful Posey comes back.

If the Celtics want to cut costs, ditch Scalabrine, Davis AND Pruitt
to a team with cap room or a trade exception in exchange for a second round pick while:

Re-sign House at a 20% raise AND Tony Allen to a 2 year deal
Offer Mourning and Mutombo vet minimum deals
Offer Lue or Jason Williams the LLE

Return to Boston Celtics
