How about jake voskuhl as perks backup
While looking at backup centers I noticed jake voskuhl is a free agent and could probably be signed for a low salary. i think he could be an excellent backup to Perk he his very active a hustler and doesn't play outside himself, decent defender and rebounder, good job at crashing boards on offensive glass, team player. Doesn't do anything impressive but makes the plays he should make. One of the most foul prone players in the game, lacks foot speed, tends to reach and hack if he can't stay in front of the play. Very scrappy when ball is pried loose near the rim. Decent rebounder. this was scouting report on draft express. His career is compared to fran elson or jarron collins amongst players currently in the nba on database basketball.

How about NO.
I think Magloire should be the back up. I don't understand what happened to him in NJ this year.

Mags is a slug. that's why he doesn't play. He has motivational issues. Elson could work for us..I think.

Re: How about jake voskuhl as perks backup
I am not a basketball expert by any means but am a longtime Celtics fan who is enjoying our incredible season and I really think that Kwame Brown or Robert Swift would be decent guys to sign as a backup to Perk... While admittedly I am not an expert, I think both players have the ability to flourish in our system with the players/mentality we have... The only problem that I can see is cost and competition for their services...
On another note, say Danny expects to meet the Lakers again in the finals... perhaps he is thinking that Kwame would be looking to really do a number on his former team... I realize that this is not how he thinks nor how GM's work but the I truly believe that Kwame has ability and we can bring out the best of him...Thoughts ??

Robert Swift?! We need a guy actually healthy enough to play. I can't understand C's fans wanting guys like Swift or Pollard. It's mind boggling..

Kwame is a comlete waste. You would wish that it would motivate him, but I hardly think so...good concept, but a bad idea. We probably go with another older over the hill banger with a one year limted warranty on parts and labor....

Re: How about jake voskuhl as perks backup
When I see some of the names mentioned on this board for our back up center I just don`t see anyone better than PJ!
Who would have thought Brown was this good! I don`t want anyone but him! Danny, please, persuade PJ to come back...

Kurt Thomas should be the guy we look at. I would love Diop but he will command to much.

Re: How about jake voskuhl as perks backup
PJ has to retire sometime and that time was almost last year. Now he can retire knowing he did everything he could of in his career.
I don't really mind any of the names on this list. Kwame gets a lot of hate because he was suppose to be a starting Center. As a back-up Center sharing time with Perkins Kwame would be great.
I'm not looking for him to develop, just to bring what he already does to the plate.

Re: How about jake voskuhl as perks backup
I suggested Jake Voskuhl several times during the year and it got no luv.
My understanding is that the Celtics will make phone calls to Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo to see if they are interested in trying to win a championship as Kendrick Perkins backup while playing for the veteran minimum (like $1.3 million, of which the Celtics will pay around $800k, and David Stern (the NBA) will make up the difference).

Kwame comes up on this board all the time and I just do not get it at all. I was forced to watch him play all the time when he was in DC and to say he has low basketball IQ is being kind. He has no hands, no heart and no head. Hes big and can run, thats about it.

Voskuhl is permanently buried at the end of the bench for the Bucks. Why would we want him?

I'd like to see what could happen with Zo or Deke before going after Jake Voskuhl. But if those two say no, I'd have no problem bringing Jake in. He's not going to cost anything, but he's plays defense and hustles. Then if Brown wants to come back at mid season, there is no problem in that.

Well, Seattle just signed Swift to his qualifying offer and can match any offer from another team. Brown looks to me to be a nightmare for Boston if he's with them. He would get under Garnett's skin. He's the anti-Garnett.
Also on Friday, Robert Swift received a $3.6 million, one-year qualifying offer from the Sonics, making him a restricted free agent. The offer allows Seattle to match a deal given to Swift from another team. Tacoma News Tribune
