Agreed.

But just counting minutes, the biggest need for 2008-9 for this team is a swingman. And by general consensus, Posey is the second-best UFA swingman on the market.

thing is danny has to keep an eye towards the future and staying competitive over the next decade as well. its just not fiscally responsible to hang posey on this team for more than 3 years and certainly not tie him to the whole mle. in fact you coud argue signing maggette for 2 years would be better than resigning posey for 3 or definitely the 4 or 5 he wants. maggettes deal would come off the books at the same time rays and man-tits deals do after 2010 which would put danny at the players table in terms of signing a big FA if he found one he liked like say for example dwyane wade. i mean seriously. to be able to offer a big fa money and come to a team thats ALREADY a contender in the east. as much as i love what posey has meant for this team i think danny has to take a hard line here and think about the long term goals of the franchise and you cant submarine that to sign a 31 yr 6th man averaging 7ppg
