Pierce To Knicks: Dump Marbury

Post#1 » by phoolishly_insane » Fri Jul 11, 2008 12:53 pm

Celtics star Paul Pierce believes that the New York Knicks needs to part ways with guard Stephon Marbury before they can truly start to get better, the New York Daily News are reporting.

"He makes the biggest contract and he's one of the oldest players on the team," Pierce said yesterday. "That doesn't really fit into a rebuilding plan, just to be honest."

"I'd try to trade him or buy him out at this point," added Pierce, who still believes Marbury can be a starting point guard in the NBA. "I just think he needs a fresh start somewhere else. Marbury needs to be on a veteran team where he fits into what they're trying to do a little bit more."

I think he's just saying that so Pierce can convince him to come to Celtics or maybe he just hates him?

^^I had that nightmare scenario too but I don't think Paul would want him...CERTAINLY KG wouldn't...Marbury is a loser, and we're winners...the two don't mix

Maybe Paul can talk Phoenix into cutting Amare so we can sign him for the minimum.

I'm hoping Marbury isnt the 2008-2009 version of Cassell 2007-2008 :o

When I read the title I thought it was gonna be a Pierce to NY fantasy trade. I had my guns already drawn when I clicked the link.

Yet just about the whole team except for Cassell and Posey didnt have rings either prior to the past season.

Marbury still has some game left, he will surprise you guys, if he's a Knick or if he is not. I just think Pierce should worry about Celtic stuff before telling New York management about what to do.

When I call Marbury a loser I don't just mean in his career, I mean his personality. The guy is a **** cancer/virus wherever he goes. Ask KG if he wants Stephon back as a teammate...

The problem with marbury isn't his game. It's his brain. He is so dumb. I mean he is just a numbskull.

I would be inruiged by the possibility. I am a reformed Marbury lover, so the temptation to root for him when he plays well will always be there. At this point I feel similarly about Starbury as I do about Steve Francis...which is not good at all. But not so much because I feel his talent is gone as I don't know where his head is.

BTW, when did KG and Stephon ever not get along? I've never heard that. Every account was Marbury bolted for bigger bucks and regretted it. (Man, they coulda been something because Googs could still play back then).

I really wish our players would not comment on other teams players and just worry about the Celtics.

^^^ Pro athletes are full of themselves in general. You have to have unbelievable belief in yourself. If he was like "OMG I can't guard Kobe he is the best basketball player on the planet"..we would have been screwed.

It's hilarious reading the reaction on the Knicks board. They're trying to bash Pierce for suggesting how to deal with Starbury, but also trying to avoid being perceived as wanting him remain on the team. So they're basically saying the Pierce is right, but that he should keep his mouth shut.
