Picture a lazy Mark Blount or an uninterested Olowokandi.

One year at the vet minimum, one year team option... that should tell you something about the demand for Patrick O'Byrant around the League.

Don't be a hater, he is a Celtic now. There was a time where there was no demand for a young Ben Wallace, either. I trust Ainge and I'm happy with this signing. It's a 2 year deal for a very low price, so there isn't much of a gamble. He has a chance to be a good player.

Don Nelson is a bad coach who's time has past. He loves the small ball. Here is a coach who has never come lose to winning a title after being a coach for over 25 years. The guy blames Patrick O'Bryant for not improving. Shouldn't he and his coaching staff take a little responsiblity for O'Bryant not progressing.

Give the guy some time with Clifford Ray, then you will see an improvement in his game. I'm not worried about what Don Nelson says. But if Ainge feels that Randolph Morris, David Harrison, Chris Andersen, or anyone else is a better fit, then I'm ok with that.

Yeah, I mentioned in the other Patrick O'Bryant thread on how I think Nellie is an idiot for not giving him playing time. Nellie is the same guy who made the Warriors trade a young Chris Webber because Chris didn't want to play the center position. Nellie's doing the same thing with Patrick except on a smaller scale; he's not playing POB because of 'attitude problems'.

I still feel that Patrick has the talent to be a great backup center in the league. He's a 7 footer with a nice mid range shot and even has a sky hook. Read my posts in the other POB thread.. Patrick will learn a lot by watching KG night in and night out.

The thing with Patrick is that Nellie never showed any confidence in him, it resulted in Patrick getting unmotivated. All he needs is playing time and he'll turn out good; he had a great game against the Clippers where he looked like the happiest guy on Earth.. and then Nellie rewards his performance by benching him the next game. Don really screwed with this kid's confidence.

Good call, R2G. You and Pogue were ahead of the curve on this.

Hope he pans out. I suspect we'll retain an open roster spot just in case he doesn't.

Well, for me, Scal is no longer the most hated player on the team.

I too hope he pans out, but still dislike him, and think he will always be a bust.

I hope pans out too. He has the talent, but does he have the determination to become better? If he has the determination and listens to Clifford Ray, we are going to be really happy with this signing in months to come.

It's a very good chance to take on him. He just turned 22 and still has a lot to learn. But IMO, he is in a great place where our team doesn't need to depend on him and we have the coaches that are willing to work with him. Don Nelson and his staff didn't want to work with POB and turned their backs on him. So he also has something to prove.
