The combo guard that I'm touting right now is Fred Jones. Excellent athleticism, energy, defense, solid ball handling and outside shooting. At SF I like Devean George at the Vet's Minimum. To me that is a relatively inexpensive combo and you get a decent mix of defense, size, shooting, and experience. Michael Finley is another option I would be comfortable with but I haven't had a chance to watch him too closely this past season. I like his clutch shooting ability.

If the C's bring in players like this it also allows a guy like Giddens and possibly even Pruitt to earn some minutes as well. These are the types of moves I'm thinking Danny will make.

Find a way to sign Gomes and Livingston and hope that Thibodeau can perform the same defensive miracle that he did on Ray Allen. We will win 75 games.

Of course all of those losses reffed by Bennet Salvatore.

i'm hesitant to sign gomes unless we also sign a back up guard who can really score for us.

Has anyone heard/read anything about what the Spurs are doing with Finley and Kurt Thomas? I haven't seen anything about them, and the Spurs board seems fairly lightly trafficked.

I've read a few posts about this team not needing long-term projects, but vets that will come aboard for short money/vet min deals and fill a need for us, and I agree (Finley - back-up 2/3 that can score and shoot from distnace; KT - vet C filling the PJ Brown role, with a little more life left in his legs). If we could convince both guys to come aboard for a title run cheaply, we could spend a little money on the reserve PG (Keyon Dooling?) using the MLE.

PG - Rondo, Dooling, Pruitt
SG - R. Allen, Finley, Giddens
SF - Pierce, Scalabrine, B. Walker
PF - Garnett, Powe, Davis
C - Perkins, K. Thomas, O'Bryant

Finley is done. Don't want him on the team. I wouldn't mind having a couple of these players:

Eddie House
Keyon Dooling
Tony Allen
Fred Jones
Barnes
Nachbar
Kurt Thomas

From what I read after the Magette signing Kurt Thomas is pretty much a lock to be re-signed by the Spurs.

That's probuly why there is light traffic about him.

Sign TA for 1.5m.......................eddie 2.0m (backloaded deal, with years) we need to keep eddie
Harrison LLEplus

Giddens should contribute
long 3 that can score---Jjones-type
also sign jamont gordon
get young value and become a ton more atheletic

or

keep eddie and get :D arbury to kill second units off the bench
but we'll only take you stars if we can keep eddie

or

sign vets to fill roles

the last is probably best

fred jones is not a long 3 who can score. he's just 6'2 and more of a combo guard

When we had injuries he never did so I'm not sure why it'd be so easy for him to start now. I'm not sure why everyone is so high on Fred Jones either.
