I still can't believe we have more than one Barnes thread.

Is the reason Gomes isnt being mentioned more often as the replacement because its likely Twolves will match or???

He seems like the ideal replacement IMO. Hes still young, has a very solid midrange, and improving 3 pt game, and hes scrappy and gets on the boards and can play 3/4. Whats the deal with him?

1. Yes.
2. Perhaps, if Tony Allen isn't resigned and Giddens isn't ready to contribute as a rookie.
3. No.
4. No.
5. I like him but others won't for his lack of defense.

I don't necessarily love all these guys but I was just ranking them in order of how good they would be for our team. The first 2 are really the only 2 I want us to sign. If Davis wasn't such a headcase he would be the best player talent wise on this list. I don't think anyone can get through to him though as Doc, Ainge, and Pierce already tried to in Boston and KG tried in Minny. Davis can score 15 a game, he can create his own shot, and shoots the ball pretty well. He is just too inconsistent though because he loves the NBA life too much on the road. He can score 30 one night and look awesome and then the next two nights score 7 and 8 and suck. He is also not a player you would want in a clutch situation at all as he has never played in important playoff games. He is always going to be a player putting up hollow stats on a lottery team.

I am sure some don't want him back, and others would view him as a threat to their new binkies, and still others wouldn't like the fact that he isn't 34 years old. But my guess is most would love to have him back figure he is either worth more than Boston can pay or MINN would match whatever we could pay.

He may actually be a problem for MINN roster wise though. He is apparently a fan favorite and he is clearly one of their most accomplished players, probably second only to Jefferson. But he is not a great fit next to Al and duplicates the skills, weaknesses, positions of about half their roster. They may prefer to try and build with their lottery picks and let Ryan move on.

They are reporting that Barnes will sign with the Suns today for a 1-yr minimum deal. We dropped the ball if this guy is really available for a 1-year min.
