....but for how much?

I would have loved to have Gomes in Celtics uniform again.

And Minnesota still got back more for Garnett than Memphis for Gasol.

Signed Jefferson to a contract extension, resigned both Telfair and Gomes and swapped first round draft pick OJ Mayo for Kevin Love from Memphis. Plus, they own Boston's first round selection next year. Oh, and I believe Boston gave Minnesota cash in the original trade as well. Not bad, overall. However, I would've drafted one of the Lopez brothers so Jefferson wouldn't have to continue to play center. I'd read that there's a concern that Love will ultimately prove to be a risk becoming a player who's injury prone. Still, Powe was a risk prior to the draft and he has turn out fine, so far.

They would want to have got more for KG - MVP/DPOY vs soft all star

Wolves fan here. It's very nice for us to have Ryan back. He did a pretty nice job for us, mostly playing out of position. Not to mention Ryan is a great character guy.

Your right on Jefferson. Would have been nice to have Al back at the 4 but Kevin Love is really going to be a nice compliment to Al offensively. Defensively? different story.

Poor decision on Gomes' part to resign with that franchise, but that probably means he didn't get many offers from any legit franchises.

That "illegitimate" franchise saved your "legit" franchise's ass last year and handed it a golden opportunity to win in the Eastern Conference. In two years, when the big three are on their way out, old and broken down physically, and the Celtics are back where they were 14 months ago, minus any of the young talent they used to get KG, Gomes will be proven to have made the right decision.

I have to say, reading a Celtic's board is funny. The swings between agony & ecstacy (the complaining during the Hawks series was hilarious) and the sense of entitlement and arrogance that is prevalent, show that there is a reason that Boston is becoming the new New York to a lot of people. The Celtics mortgaged their future to win # 17, and I hope you enjoy it, but just remember pride comes before a fall, and these last 20 years [along with Len Bias, Reggie Lewis, etc.] should have shown the good people of Boston that they are not above things going against them. Comments like the one above reveal a very ugly side of arrogance, and shows a remarkable lack of class toward a franchise that you should bow down and thank every day for #17, because they could have very easily traded KG to the Lakers and gotten an even better deal, and #17 would still be a distant dream for you.

Sorry, I just saw that comment and had to get get it off my chest.

The Liberator, it takes really a lot of effort to get down to the level of the user you quoted in your post. Congrats, you are in his same class now.

There's probably more than a million Celtics fans worldwide and you're judging a fan base based on a few members on one message board? Makes sense. Boston should be in a very good position for free agency if all 3 retire together. Being a big market team with history certainly helps in this case. There's also the possibility that they trade Ray Allen and benefit off that. There's also the possibility that they will get luck in the draft lottery this time. There's many possibilities after this era ends, and I certainly have more confidence in Ainge than I did in their previous GM's.

Wow, hm.

It may seem like we mortgaged our future, like we went all in and now this is it until we fade out, but there's trust to be had in D.A. There's a reason why only 3-4 players are in the books for 2010, a huge year for F.A.'s.

I'm sorry your a wolves fan. Coming to a C's forum all indignant and ish like a vegan to a steak buffet, trying to tell C's fans how arrogant and dumb they are, when your just mad about how your team is effed up and aint getting credit for it.

I'm sorry, Super, that's what I get for posting when I'm ticked off. I know that not all Boston fans are like that, most are like the first few posters in this thread, but when someone basically implies that another team isn't even worthy to compete with them when 14 months ago they were in worse shape than the franchise he was disparaging, it reeks of arrogance, and Scalamental's comments reinforce that attitude. Yes, there are some decent FA's coming out in '10, but the Celtics aren't going to be the only ones who have the same idea, and if this FA period has taught us anything, it's not to assume that you'll get what you want out of it. Also, I'm curious how much trust you had in Ainge prior to the Garnett deal.

Basically, what I'm saying is that not that long ago, your team was right at the bottom of the totem pole, hoping against hope for lottery luck, and in despair when it went against you. Remember that before you mock other teams.

Apparently my comments reinforce the attitude. Apparently this was a low key discussion about Gomes until you had to explode on a one liner. You went off like two paragraphs crapping on every single c's fan and then predicted the apocalypse of the franchise. And your getting on me for getting offended? Your team is too much of an easy target to come talkin that trash.

LMAO. bit testy, are we?

If McHale had a better deal from the Lakers, I guarantee you he would have taken it. Jefferson was the only franchise big man on the table. I think you guys got a pretty good haul in return for KG, it wasn't any kind of favor. You want to see a favor, look at the Gasol trade.

I thought it was a win win for both teams.

Once the star decides they want to be traded, then their "value" takes a big hit. McHale did a great job given the constraints Garnett put him under. Jeffersen is an awesome offensive force.

That said I'm glad to see Ryan get a contract. He's a great guy and made an important contribution to Minnesota last year.

The Liberator has a point. We were where the Wolves are not that long ago.

That being said, this is our house. If we come to your board and start talking smack about your team, get indignant. Otherwise, let it slide. I hate it when C's fans go to other boards and whine about the way their fans talk about our team. It's their right to say what they want in their house. No matter how low, tasteless or (usually) wrong they may be. ;)

Let's keep it classy here. We're fans of the goddamn Boston Celtics. Let's act like it.
