Has anyone seen Ricky D and Larry Hughes at the same place and time? They could be the same person. Interesting.

I never read Pierce say he disliked Ricky. I actually read that Pierce liked Ricky and I presume he doesn't invite a person he dislikes to his charity events.

Honestly has anyone read anything in by a real journalist in a newspaper about Ricky and Pierce dislking each other? All these "stories" that came out after the trade... I was on this board and it was nothing more then what Gonzo just did. A poster saying stuff about an now ex-celtic. Amazing how there were many new stories that were made up after Ricky and the wolves beat us. As for the Doc comment.. go ahead and find it. But you can save yourself time because you already know it isn't a complaint, Doc could coach Marbury and have nothing but good things to say about the guy.

Kwame Brown won't score points for DET. But he won't let Kendrick Perkins get 16 rebounds in what.. one half in the ECF against them either.

Let's just say he wasn't missed by his teammates or coaches. For example, Pierce was pissed at him for rolling his eyes and generally undermining his leadership when Pierce was trying to get his team fired up for a comeback.

Honestly, I think Ricky is a guy who loves the NBA lifestyle, and winning or losing is just incidental. He knows that if he can score 15 ppg he will keep getting contracts, so he can continue to party and toke and enjoy the night life with free plane tickets around the country.

I think it was just 1 article, not a lot of stories. The main problem players on the team were Blount (offender No. 1), and Banks, who was mistreated IMO and Doc felt the backlash. Ricky may have been overconfident in himself, BUT, he was the only reason we were able to make the trade we did. And lest your forget, everyone thought that the trade was absolutely **** from our end, as Wally missed the rest of the season with a bum ankle, while Ricky scored 20 a night in Minnesota. If Blount and Banks weren't around I doubt we trade Ricky.

Remember how hyped Banks was about handing the Cs a loss in Minnesota. I know Doc is a players' coach, but something went wrong with that guy. That year Doc had him behind Orien Green in the pg rotation.

Rocky 500 that article brings back a lot of old memories. Shipping Banks to the Lakers for Gary payton only to have him sent back.

I will try and find what I remember Paul saying that Ricky's time had come.

Yeah, there are only two players I know Pierce began to change his tune on and they were R. Davis and G. Green. I wouldn't say he'd bad mouthed them once they were with another team. Pierce doesn't seem like the type of guy. But, I feel like his voice of support began to waver. I definitely, recall reading about it being rumored that Rivers thought of Davis as hard to deal with in practices. But, again neither Rivers nor Pierce or Ainge are going to say it in so many words. They'll maybe imply something and you can take it as that or take it for what it's worth.

That is such a reminder about how much this franchise has changed over the past two years. Astonishing, really, to think we all had to hear about the exploits Mark Friggin' Blunt.

Here's an example of when I'd implyed that one should read between the lines.

One reason Ainge feels the Celtics are closer is the addition of Szczerbiak for Ricky Davis. He thinks Szczerbiak is the best player in the deal and added that Davis, while having improved both on and off the court as a Celtic, still was, as he put it, high maintenance.

''Ricky grew up a lot here and, as I said before, this was not about Ricky," Ainge said. ''But things happen, and not always things off the court. People are talking about Wally's defense. Well, Ricky had his problems there, too."

That despite the public pronouncements of Doc Rivers, who once said Davis could be the best defensive player on the Celtics because of his size, quickness, and athleticism. When it was all said and done, Davis was in Boston for fewer than 26 months.

These are quotes by Pierce on Green... I couldn't get a link to the original article because the Herald archived it and... I don't know... But this is an example of what I was saying about how Pierce changed his tune about Green.

“I think he has the talent to definitely be in the NBA, but I just think he has to develop a better work ethic,” Pierce said. “I think the coaches he’s played for say that’s the one knock on him. He knows how talented he is and how good he can be, but it’s a matter of wanting to work at it every day. If he ever gets that mind-set, he wouldn’t have to worry about being cut and who he’s going to play for next.

“Definitely he has the ability, but that’s the story in the NBA with these young guys. I’ve seen guys come and go. They can have the talent, but if they don’t work at it they never really make it.”

Count Pierce among the frustrated. He often went out of his way to work with Green and to praise the youngster publicly.

“I tried to take him under my wing,” Pierce said. “I tried to work with him. There were days when I’d come in and play some one-on-one with him and show him some stuff that I do to get better. But you’ve got to have the work ethic. You’ve got to want to do it.

“I think that’s what helped me as a young player. I wanted to be in the gym. It wasn’t because I have a veteran telling me to. What are you going to do in the summertime when you don’t want to be there? That’s the NBA. It’s all about the grind. If you’re not willing to do it, there’s somebody else who’s hungrier and younger and just as talented, and they’re going to take your job.”

Classic DelMonte! I actually re-found that site about a month ago myself and was sitting in my apartment laughing like a maniac. I wish I could fine the other "Mark Blount Sucks" website that did a game-by-game analysis of his foibles. That one was killer.
