OT: Wondering about another poster...

I think it was several months ago when a certain poster here (I don't remember who) broke up with his girlfriend and was pretty shaken up over it. He cried for help from anyone on this board and a bunch of people chimed in with good advice.

I'm bringing this up because I'm wondering if everything is okay with him. At the time, he even wanted to end his own life over it. I certainly hope that he didn't go there. I feel bad that I don't remember the poster's name, but if he's reading this, I hope he'll forgive me because I'm more of a lurker than a poster and I read what people wrote more than pay attention who wrote what.

Anyway, if you're still out there, I hope you're doing alright. And I hope you were able to enjoy and celebrate the C's winning #17.

Amen to that! I won't disclose names but I remember this poster. I too hope all is well with him.

Yes, I remember that too. It seemed like the OP appreciated the concern from the fraternity of Realgm'ers. It was cool because we otherwise spend a lot of time on here ripping on each others' views. Sometimes a little reality check on what really matters is a nice balance to the all the arguments on which multi-millionaire 22-year old is worth his contract.

This was easily the most awkward thing that ever happened on this forum, even outdoing the Celtic Thug saga in my opinion. I won't throw salt in old wounds by bringing up names, but it is rumored that to this day you can still find gigantic 15-20 sentence paragraphs on the Off-Topic forum, suggesting that the poster is indeed ok.

I can recall a thread a few months ago which was created by a poster who seriously contemplated commiting suicide and later on there was another poster that also considered the same. but I can't recall any of these 2 guys being a celtics fan. I know that one was a suns fan but I'm not sure about the other one but he had a manu avy so I'd say he is a spurs fan.

To make matters worse, the mere thought of starting a new paragraph was too much for this particular poster so his posts would just be massive run-on paragraphs.

Then, inexplicably, posters started giving him advice to the point where these threads had about 10 pages of replies. Imagine what 10 pages of advice about a high school breakup on a basketball forum would look like. It's threads like that that make me wish this site archived posts. It was embarrassing to even be lurking on this web page during those times. WHERE WERE THE MODS?!?! :lol:

After a while some brave posters finally told him enough is enough and it was back to basketball around here pretty much until C-Thug and the 2007 summer of deleted threads which I'm sure most people remember.

Well, good for the people who offered advice and moral support when it was needed.
And good for the ones who are still wishing the guy well.
That's pretty classy, and I see no reason that this can't have a place on a basketball fan board occasionally --- nobody gets hurt by it and somebody might get helped. Strictly speaking, the thing that drew these individuals together briefly was a common passion for the Celtics.
Anyone who finds it upsetting can just choose not to read the thread.

Different situation. This was pretty much one thread by Sprash earlier this year and he thanked everyone for their thoughts and advice.
