Not sure if that question was for me, but no. What's EEI?

Wherever "NB" is it isn't in New England.

It is a monster talk radio station in NE that carries the Red Sox and the C's.

Ya, clued into the WEEI after my post. One of those days. Province of New Brunswick, Canada.

Out of antenna range for the C's games, and they don't stream the games unfortunately. Brutal sometimes having to listen to opposition teams radio broadcast off nba.com.

The only NB that matters is New Britain home of the great Tom Thibodeau!

lol - I'll give New Britain full marks for that one. My NB did send Don Sweeney to the Bruins, which wasn't a bad contribution.

Pretty good Boston fans overall here, Boston is closer than Montreal or Toronto so there is a natural draw in all sports.

I think people are somehow convinced that Darius Miles is actually a good player.

Not only is he not a good player, he is a bad player. A chronic underachiever. On top of that he has severe character issues. Why severe? I'm talking about the serious motivational issues, combined with a complete lack of respect for past coaches and teammates.

I hear everyone applauding this as a ow risk, high reward situation. No. This is a low risk, low reward.

Miles is crap.

Newsflash: Darius Miles, likely a good person

Post#148 » by Rocky5000 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:55 am

I think everyone who's been wondering about Darius's character issues, should watch these two videos.
Darius Miles lets a 17 interview him for a long time and ask stupid questions, but is totally cool with it
Darius Miles visits Portland High School and talks about his life for a Black Studies Class *post knee injury

I watched them both and the guy really seems to have gotten a bad rap. He's so laid back that I don't see how he could become a team cancer, or ruin a team's chemistry. He seems to enjoy basketball, like to joke around, and he doesn't take himself too seriously(for an NBA player.) In the recent SI article, he says that he doesn't understand how he got labeled as a bad person, and it's pretty clear that he probably shouldn't have been.

I also found this video which has footage of him practicing from this past season and a short interview. I don't think the Blazers had him practice more than once or twice, which is strange, since he doesn't seem to have suffered a career ending injury in the video. They definitely didn't want him to even have a shot last year, and were looking for the insurance bailout.

I can show you 3 youtube videos of Hitler kissing babies, being polite and demonstrating great charisma. Okay so that is a very bad joke. Regardless, I personally never thought Miles was a bad guy - heck I have never met him! But, to me his biggest knock is his lack of heart and commitment to the game.

Let me say two things:

1. Paul Allen of the Portland Trail Blazers took this kid in and paid him a ton of money when the Cavs and Clips left him for dead - due to their own issues with Miles. No matter what you think or say about Paul Allen and the Blazers, they gave him his THIRD shot to prove he was better than he had demonstrated and had been labeled in the past. Prior to the injury, he fought with coaches, and demonstrated a lack of commitment to work hard with the team. After the injury, instead of working VERY hard to make it a success like Zach Randolp, Amare Stoudamire and now Greg Oden; Darius ballooned up - again showing his lack of commitment.

2. An INDEPENDENT doctor hired by the league and players union concluded his knee was bone and bone and that his next injury would result in knee replacement surgery.

Many people close to him in Portland have said the same thing about Darius. He doesnt love playing in the NBA. He loves being a player in the NBA. He loves the lifestyle of being a player.

Maybe 4 chances is what he needs. I can't say I feel sorry for the guy. He has made millions of dollars on talent alone. If he had worked hard like a KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, or Kobe Bryant, then maybe he would have become a top player in the league.

My bet is that the doctor is accurate and the knee will not hold up through the rigors of training camp, pre season, and a full nba season.

Good luck next year. LOVED the Laker arse kicking.

The "bone on bone" thing is my favorite. As if that means a godamn thing more than some lottery pick never panned out. We know Darius Miles isn't a 9 million dollar player, we want him to be a $900,000 player, better yet half of what James Posey was. Sure chances are he **** the bed, but they are just as good that he makes it so Brian Scalabrine never has to play minute for my beloved Boston Celtics.

(Please read that and every other post I make with a strong Irish brogue, my real accent is much more Rhode Island, which if you don't know is like a Boston guy and a New York guy getting in a knife fight, not pretty at all.)

You guys are hilarious. Good luck with him, but I highly doubt you'll ever see him take the court in a regular season game

Dave from New Bedford calls all the time. He is one of the more outrageous callers they have. New Bedford is a small port city in Mass.

If he doesn't, so be it. No big loss for us and we have a spot open on a roster already loaded with talent.

But I think you're doubts will prove to be unfounded. Darius will play, and he'll be worth his money to us (but not to the Blazers!)

BTW, Blazers fans would do well to just ignore whatever is going on with Miles. There is nothing you can do about it--- maybe the team has to pay him, maybe not. But one thing: you've got one of the most talented young teams in the league-- phenomenal job really-- so you've got plenty to be happy about. Your concern over Miles' career is as important to you as a Boston fan worrying about Mark Freakin' Blount.

You're exactly right, Dogen. This is the place I reside with my mentality on both the Blazer personnel and the prospects of Darius succeeding in the league. In all honesty, I want the cap space so that we can mess with LA and dangle a carrot in front of Kobe next summer, as well as be the largest player in the FA market next summer. But, I surely do not want it to be as the result of pain to another human being (Darius) - it is definitely not worth it. And, the fact is, the Blazers are flippin stacked. If they want to make a move, and they will have to, they have players / young assets to trade, plus double digit cap space w/ or w/ out Darius on the books.

Portland fan... I know, get off our board! Naw, it's all good. A big part of me would like to see Darius succeed. I can remember just before he went down with the knee injury, Darius was really starting to light it up. It seemed like he was starting to come into his own. He was turning into a good, young point forward. A lot of what the other Portland fans stated was true. He was not very dedicated, didn't really want to put the effort into becoming better, etc. This guy was becoming a terrific player without all that. It's almost unimaginable what he could have become if he actually tried. As far as the cap goes ... I really wouldn't worry about it. Portland will have plenty to go after a player if they decide to do it. I'm not convinced they're going to go after someone at this pont. There really aren't many free agents they would target next summer. Perhaps they make a trade for a player without giving up too much instead? We'll see. Anyways, I'm getting longwinded. Good luck to the Celtics this season, good luck to Darius and most of all... Good Luck to Portland!!!
