niiice. the bravias are the ish.

not sure they're worth the bling, tho. the aquos is significantly cheaper and almost as good. and you can pick up a 42" vizio 1080p for damn near nothing these days, and for 90% of the stuff i can't tell the difference.

i'm thinking about what to buy myself...

Yeah I could have went with a cheaper company but as the old saying goes" you get what you pay for". Sony ball all accounts is in the top three along with Samsung and Panisonic.

I just put up an Epson projection unit in the basement. It is the nutz.. I have a 42" aquos and the picture is not as good as the plasma down stairs.

I'm looking at HD projectors myself, with a little space and setup they're supposed to be getting ridiculously good and much cheaper than tv's. Some people have them set up for up to 10' screens!, the biggest downfall is having to buy a $250 bulb every year or so and needing to keep the room somewhat dim, but my living room gets the least sun of the whole house anyways.

I love the projector. The screen is 138". It is just nuts. The bulbs for the epson are $500 a piece. There is only one bulb to replace instead of 2. I couldn't be happier with it. Can't wait to watch the pats, clets and F1 races on it.

I've got a 46-inch Samsung LCD, and it's magnificent. Bravias are excellent too if you can afford them. If you plan on buying any LCD, just stay with the 3 S's. Sony, Sharp and Samsung are the companies to go with.

And for those who haven't jumped on the HD bandwagon yet - I suggest you get on quick. It's an absolute joy watching sports in HD. Actually, it's just an absolute joy watching anything in HD. I find myself watching nature shows on the Discovery channel because the picture is just so crisp.

I just gave my dad my old Sony 1080i flat-screen picture tube. It is too much to move anymore, a massive beast, but I loved it so much. I am going to buy a Samsung lcd. I think they are doing it the best right now. Rear projectors are the ish, but I'm not quite ready to make that jump quite yet.

You have a 200" screen!!! That is awesome. I'm thrilled with my 138" screen. It is just so over the top!

My LCD is pretty good. I game and don't want to worry about burn in and crap. I got a 46" Sony Bravia one. My g/f didn't like the Samsung as much and I heard people whine about "banding" on the Aquos. It turns out I am not huge AV nutcase. As I didn't notice any problems at all with my Sony.. It looks great. Plasma might look a little better but not as much as before...

I am more of a sound guy. I was ready to throw out my speakers but I bought a new Denon Reciever.. I was surprised how much better my old speakers sound. Get that and PS3 for blu-ray and it's pretty friggin sweet..

Sports is really great for HDTV - I got to agree with other posters. It does improve things quite a bit. It's not that its just sharper but you actually see more of the action at once alot of the time. One big difference between real life and TV is that IRL you have alot of your vision filled with sports action and see alot of the field or court at the same time. The HDTV comes closer to matching this and thus is better..

I would recommend this place called AVforums.. Careful what you read cause you could turn out to be a nitpicker. But they have some serious AV nerds come up with nice settings for your TV and explain what all those options do. I know on the Sony there are a crap load of options..

I'm looking to build a fence around the house and put in some hardwood floors, but I'm scoping out a 42-inch plasma for future reference, lol.
