Pierce and Ray Allen played a lot of minutes in the first half of the season last year. And for the most part Posey and House plus one of the small PFs was our bench. We don't have Posey this year.. but he wins rings not division banners.
I think we should see about a 60 win team.
We have to recall that last year was the 7th greatest point differential in NBA history. We didn't just win during the regular season, we simply kicked everyone's asses. Perk doesn't have foul troubles in the regular season, Ray Allen can shoot the ball and his defense isn't exposed as much, and our shooters get more room to shoot...
I think it will be a more competitive regular season, and hopefully we get #1 record in the league again, as well as some insight into who will be apart of our bench come playoffs. At this point I'm all but sure Miles will be cut for Brown or another player for the playoffs but finding stuff like that out is what our regular season is for.
We certainly downgraded our dependable veteran bench.. lets see if a kid can make it not matter.

I expect the C's to once again try to go for the best record in the league, especially after last season, where they learned first hand the importance of having home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
I'm guessing a record not lower than 60 wins for the C's this coming season.

Re: "Experts" predict 55 wins for the Celtics
I see another 60+ win season out of them just like I actually predicted last year.
It's the big 3 that matters most. Had we had more competition last year we could have gone for 70. We only stopped at 66 because we had HCA locked up. The pundits forgot just how dominant we were at the start of the season..

The whole argument about the Celts getting a little lazy this coming year may be true for some of the players. KG is the guy who puts that theory to shame IMO. You see the Pistons slack because of sheed not always giving it his all...that is not the case with KG. When you play with a guy like that you can't help but to turn around and give it your all because you do not want to let him down. I think that is the overriding factor here.
Plus, there are numerous players on short term deals/contract years that are trying to earn a contract or spot in the NBA for years to come.
I think TA is going to be a beast this year and will really turn heads with his one on one attack game to the rim. Posey had virtually no one on one game and never got to the charity stripe. Instead of a spot up three point shooter/good defender, we get a wing that attacks the basket and is now the best one on one defender on the team. We are in good shape. We sit tight and find out how our chips fall through training camp and then through the middle of the year and then we fill in the holes ala PJ Brown...

I don't think it's crazy. We lost Posey, and although we can expect some improvements from our young players, we didn't add anything. But the real key is, we can't take for granted the fact that our Big 3 stayed healthy pretty much all year. We can knock on wood all we want but we were very fortunate and I wouldn't necessarily count on that happening again. Not that I'm expecting major injuries, just ones like KG's stomach problem around the break.
I'd be fine with 55-60 wins, especially if it's tops in the league/conference. That's really all that matters.

In 07/08 we ALL SAW how valuable home court advantage was for us.

Re: "Experts" predict 55 wins for the Celtics
I worry a bit more about off-court conditioning then on court laziness. I think that's something that could be hurt by the championship. PP for example is an alpha-dog type - and that's why he comes across so cocky in interviews. But on the court he really wants to prove what he says..he lives for that.
It's off the court.. I hope he does go with the KG/RA type conditioning this year. The same with BBD - he does hustle pretty hard when he gets in. But what about his diet? POB is the only guy I worry about loafing on the court with.. Mark Blount is another guy who would do really well conditioning wise off the court but then paradoxically give little effort on the court at times... crazy.

I'm pretty sure many of the experts were making similar predictions last season. My prediction is 63 wins for Boston. I think Cleveland will improve and Miami should show some improvement, but I don't see too much change otherwise.

Re: "Experts" predict 55 wins for the Celtics
I think 58-60 wins is reasonable. We're bound to get a bit of the injury bug given how many games we played last year. Additionally, losing Posey does hurt, although we got more athletic with Miles, Giddens, and Walker on the wing to replace him.
Last year was a special year, and to ask for or expect that again might be a bit foolhearty. That being said, I do expect this team to be the best in the East again, though not by as wide a margin as last season.
